JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS

Prepared By: SOUMEN MAKAR

PROJECT-BMCT-JNPT-4 PROJECT-CODE-35515DM

2016

What is JSA?
NINL

A Job Safety Analysis is a task-oriented risk assessment used to review the hazards
associated with a particular work task, and to verify that adequate safeguards are in
place to control those hazards.

JSAs are known by a variety of terms, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Job Risk
Assessment (JRA), Task Risk Assessment (TRA), Safe Job Analysis (SJA).

Step-by-step Instructions for Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

• Select a job for JSA.

Step-1

• Break the job into basic tasks

Step-2

• Analyse each task step by step

Step -3

• Determine preventive measure(s)

step -4

• Communicate the information to every concerned person

step-5

Job Safety Analysis and its Implementation

INVOLVE employees in the development

KEEP written JSA short and simple

ILLUSTRATE safe practices

ASSIGN responsibility of JSA

TRAIN all employees and supervisors

EXPLAIN the use of JSA to employees

IMPLEMENT safe work practices

REVIEW JSA when equipment or process changes or new information

becomes available regarding potential hazards associated with the
job.
