Course Rationale This course deals with the teacher as a person and as a professional within the context of national and
and Description global teachers’ standards and educational philosophies. It will include professional ethics, core values,
and awareness of professional rights, privileges and responsibilities as well as the teachers’ roles in the
society as a transformative agent of change.
The course will prepare students to become professional teachers who manifest global competitiveness,
in-depth knowledge of multiculturalism, and profound understanding of the significant laws that are
consequential to the ethical practice of the teaching profession.

Intended Learning Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:

ILO 2 Demonstrate knowledge, capabilities, attitudes, ethics and dispositions of the
teaching profession;
ILO 3 Demonstrate an understanding of the major philosophies of education and draw
their implications on one’s future practice of the teaching profession;
ILO 4 Demonstrate an understanding of the legal aspects of teaching including the rights
of learners and parents/families, as well as the legal rights and responsibilities of
the teacher and analyze their implication;
ILO 5 Examine current and historical roles, expectations, stereotypes, and
characterizations that define teaching as a profession; and
ILO 6 Reflect upon and critique one’s own educational experiences and articulate one’s
own beliefs and values about teaching and learning.

Student Outcomes The graduates of the Bachelor in Secondary Education program have the ability to:
SO 1 Demonstrate deep understanding of scientific concepts and principles;
SO 2 Apply scientific inquiry in teaching and learning;
SO 3 Utilize effective science teaching and assessment methods; and
SO 4 Manifest meaningful and comprehensive pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of
the sciences
ATTENDANCE.
Prompt and regular attendance of students will be checked but not required due to some circumstances
that the students' data subscription is limited or the inability to use data subscription from time to time.
For those students who will not be able to attend classes due to any valid reasons shall be noted and
accepted. A semester has 18 weeks.
MISSED EXAMINATIONS.
B. Students who failed to take the examination during the schedule date can be given a special examination
provided he/she has valid reason. If it is due to health reason, he/she should provide the faculty with the
medical certificate signed by the attending physician. Other reasons shall be assessed first by the
faculty to determine its validity.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY.
Academic dishonesty includes acts such as cheating during examinations or plagiarism in connection
with any academic work. Such acts are considered major offenses and will be dealt with according to
the University’s Student Norms of Conduct.
DROPPING.
Dropping must be made official by accomplishing a dropping form and submitting it at the Registrar’s
Office before the midterm examination. Students who officially drop out of class shall be marked
“Dropped” whether he took the preliminary examination or not and irrespective of their preliminary
grades.
OTHER COURSE POLICIES & REQUIREMENTS.
Students with Disabilities/Special Needs (PWD). All students who have an illness or disability are
encouraged to disclose to the instructor the nate and extent of the illness or disability so that the
instructor can make the necessary adjustments.
All students are expected to promote and foster an environment that encourages positive, informed
and unprejudiced attitudes towads students with disability.
CONSULTATION
Students are highly encouraged to use the consultation hour of the instructor set by the college,
whether virtually or face-to-face. It will be used to seek for an advice if there is any problem or
difficulty encountered during the term. Discussion for academic purposes will also be entertained.
