 Purified Duck Embryo Vaccine
- No longer used
 Purified Chick Embryo Cell Vaccine (PCEC)
- 1 mL
 Purified Vero Cell Vaccine
- 0.5 mL

2 Routes
 IM (2-1-1)
- Full vial injection (1 mL)
- Negative skin tests prior
 ID
- 2 site ID regimen
- 28 - 30 days
- 0.1 mL/ 10 units for insulin syringe
- Only one syringe is used for the 2 sites

Anti – Rabies Vaccine


- Only deltoid area is used for both children
and adult

Human Serum and Immunoglobulin


- Vastus Lateralis is used

Equine
- Originated from horse serum
- The patient needs to do negative skin tests
first
- If the patient is positive, he will receive the
human serum

Laboratory workers
- Every 6 months pre – exposure prophylaxis

Vet
- Every year pre – exposure prophylaxis

Nursing Responsibilities after immunization


 Avoid hypoallergenic foods (malalansang
pagkain) for 7 days
 Avoid alcoholic beverages for 1 month
(interferes with production of antibodies)
