News story writing
• The students are to write four news stories covering
major events in their areas.
• These stories may be political, economic, sports,
cultural, education or any other such kind.
• These stories carry eight marks.
FORMAT OF A NEWS STORY
INTERVIEW WRITING
• The students are to write the interviews of two
prominent persons.
• These persons may not necessary be any MP or MLA.
You can select any such personality to whom you can
ask 5-6 questions on a specific topic in which he has a
sound grip.
• These interviews writing carry eight marks.

• The students are to identify above given
advertisements.
• For this the students have to collect each type of ad
from a newspaper/magazine and paste each ad on a
blank paper and then write the type of that
advertisement.

REVIEW OF A RADIO PROGRAMME
• The students are to write reviews of any two radio
programme.
• The radio programme may be current affairs/news
bulletin/interview based programme/feature/talk
show/song based programme etc.
• The writing of review of two radio programme
carries six marks.
REVIEW OF A RADIO PROGRAMME
• Observe the objective and target audience
• Critically analyses the story, judge the theme
• See its relevancy to social, political, economic situations.
• Analyse the contents, script, direction, performance standards,
technicalities and other aspect of programme.
FEATURE WRITING
• The students are to write two feature on a topic of his/her
choice.
• Features are human interest stories about people, places or
situations.
• News features are short (600-800words), less descriptive
• Magazine features are longer (750-1500 words) more
descriptive
• These two feature writing carries ten marks.
FEATURE WRITING
• To write a feature some general guidelines, common sources
for feature writing, classification of features and basics of
feature writing in summarized form are given in the given
booklet of Practical Assignments
• For more details of feature writing, read the Lesson-5 (Writing
News Analysis, Articles, Editorial, Features) of Print Media
paper: PGDMC-102.
ARTICLE WRITING
• The students are to write two article on a topic of his/her
choice.
• An Article contains the opinions and thoughts of the writer,
backed by facts and evidence of some events, occurrences,
persons, places, experiences etc.
• Objective of Article writing may be to provide information and
knowledge, to bring some topic or matter in limelight, to
discuss various stories; persons; locations; rising political,
economic or social issues etc.
• These two article writing carries ten marks.
ARTICLE WRITING
• To write a article some general guidelines and outlines are
given in the given booklet of Practical Assignments.
• For more details of article writing, read the Lesson-5 (Writing
News Analysis, Articles, Editorial, Features) of Print Media
paper: PGDMC-102.
