Introduction
Salafi boarding school is an educational system which is a continuation of the previous
educational system managed to integrate the Islamic educational system-in which Islamic values were taught-with local culture rooted at the time (solichin: 2013). In addition, to maintain the existence of salafi boarding schools and to keep up with the era, salafi boarding schools have begun to develop formal education which combines the national curriculum system and the salafi boarding school curriculum system. These adjustment steps above have been carried out by almost of salafi boarding school by opening various formal educational institutions that sdopt modern education, which are accompanied by various developments in various aspects of education. Hidayatul Mubtadi’in is one of salafi boarding school in Krempyang Tanjunganom Nganjuk East Java that conducts formal education development by establishing MA Darussalam. MA Darussalam is one of the private Islamic Senior High School in Nganjuk district and has approximately 928 students in the 2019-2020 years. The regulation in MA Darussalam requires all of the students to stay in salafi boarding school. It is intended so that the students can take part in the Islamic boarding school activities. Since this school combines the national curriculum and the curriculum of the salafi boarding school. Due to the full activity, it causes limited activity of students to maximize their interests and talents, especially those that have to do with language skills. Even if it is seen from a very large number of students, it automatically will give a tremendous opportunity for students who have expertise in the field of language to develop their language skills, especially in speaking skills.
