This document discusses a student's reflections on learning about deck fittings on a ship. The student learned to identify different deck equipment like cleats, bollard, and ladders. They were also introduced to safe processes for rigging and using this equipment. The student was surprised by learning new terminology to expand their knowledge. They believe the work and effort they put into learning reflects in the quality of what they produced.

• What new information have I learned from the activities?
In this particular topic, which is the deck fittings I am able to learn, understand and also identify different deck equipment like for example the cleat, bits, bollard, chock, pod-eye, lifeline, capstan, camel, rat guards, chafing gear, fenders, boatswain’s chair, Jacob’s ladder, boat boom, pilot’s ladder, sea ladder, and accommodation ladder. By reading and analyzing that new deck equipment I am now aware of how it was look like, and partially how to use it in a real life scenario/situation. By also reading this particular topic I am able to navigate more about how every significant thing works in a ship. Another leaning take –away is instruction show safe and step-by-step processes related to the preparing, rigging, and unrigging, hoisting, rat guards and gangways, and use marlinespike seamanship Skills. Though the module doesn’t provide a more broad explanation about the entire process, it allows me to take a glimpse of it and provide me a primary knowledge that can be used in the next chapter of my journey.
• What surprised me about what I learned?
Literally, I am always interested and it never fails to surprise me when I encounter different/new terminologies that I encounter. Since it literally widen my knowledge more and let me acquire new capabilities that will enhance me more. It quite surprise me also when I see photos attach with the module or reading material, it likewise bring me more closer to the reality since we are in a virtual setting where I guess we can’t access those ship equipment that are available in our school.
• Does my work truly reflect my effort?
I do believe that every work I’ve accomplished equates a significant effort. It really requires a lot of effort to learn, and to do a task/ work that is why I believe when you do something less effort your work will show how you exert that certain amount of effort. It really depends on a student/person how he value the quality of is work and how much effort he/she is willing to give.
