Delta State Ministry of Youth Development - Rural Youth Skill Acquisition Programme (RYSA) Training Manual
INTRODUCTION
The Rural Youth Skill Acquisition Programme (RYSA) is one of the flagship programmes of
the Delta State Ministry of Youth Development.
This document contains the various successive phases to be covered by the programme.
The goal of the RYSA programme is to train and start-up unemployed rural youths who have
acquired basic training in their chosen areas, ready to start and run their own businesses with
the right, “do it yourself” hands-on-skills, life and basic business skills and resources to
become self-employed business owners.
RYSA programme runs a Refresher Skills Training with an implant of the Community
Business School (CBS).

Each module in the Refresher Skills Training outlines the key training and learning tasks, and
their action based activities on a daily and weekly schedule. The module represents the
critical minimum proficiency that should be delivered by the trainer (or attained by the
trainee). However, in delivering the training, RYSA trainers are required to flexibly apply
and deploy experience-based techniques and practical examples to enhance skills learning
and proficiency of trainees.

Intermittently, quality assurance will be done to ensure that standard procedures of the
training manual are strictly adhered to, training expectation achieved, outcome harvested and
deliverable are well documented. Hence, this booklet contains a logbook for each skills
training module under RYSA.

This training module serves as essential standard and resource material for RYSA trainers
and trainees. For stakeholders, the module shows the quality assurance and exact content that
characterize programme execution by exposing the scope of skill training under the different
skill areas, thereby making the training process result-oriented, transparent, predictable,
credible, accountable and measurable. It is therefore required that RYSA trainers and trainees
use these training modules accordingly.
