Journal Citation Reports (or JCR) is a product of ISI Web of Knowledge and is an authoritative resource
for impact factor data. This database provides impact factors and rankings of many journals in the
social and life sciences based on millions of citations.

To view the Quartile

Score of a journal,
from a journal record,
click on the "Rank"
The journal “Journal of Finance", for example, ranks 1st out of 103 in the “Business,
Finance" category in 2018. It falls into the highest quartile (Q1) in this category. In the
“Economics" category, this journal ranks 6th out of 363 journals in 2018, It falls into the
highest quartile (Q1) in this category.

Note: Q1 denotes the top 25% of the IF distribution, Q2 for middle-high position (between top 50% and top 25%), Q3 middle-low
position (top 75% to top 50%), and Q4 the lowest position (bottom 25% of the IF distribution).
