Welcoming Remarks – August 19, 2020

To the Dean of the College of Business and Accountancy, Dr. Nina

Macarandang, to the program head of the Accountancy Department, Sir Clieford
Perez, to my fellow BSA faculty members, to the Junior Philippine Institute of
Accountants – UB Chapter Executive Officers, to the parents present today and to
our dear BSA and BSMA freshmen, a very great and pleasant afternoon to you.
“A journey to a thousand miles begins with a single step”, a famous and
somewhat cliché quotation for every new beginning. Your journey to becoming a
Certified Public Accountant, starts in accepting the fact na hindi magiging madali
yung journey na iyon. A lot of challenges awaits you, a change in study habits
need to be done, and letting go of self-expectation and self-pity is required for a
healthy mental state during this journey. Acceptance or pagtanggap na mahirap
ang course na ito will be the starting point. Gone are the high school days, do not
let your awards and honor titles pressure you in this course.
Pero kahit mahirap itong course na ito, hindi ka pinababayaan ni Lord at
dapat tatandaan mo yan. You have your professors to help you, friends to join you
in studying and taking this journey and your parents to guide you. These are all
the blessings being given to you in order for you to help face the challenges head
on.
I would like to formally welcome you all to the College of Business and
Accountancy, Accountancy Department. We will make sure that we help you
achieve your dreams of becoming a CPA. Pero, you have to remember, that
diamonds are made in the presence of high temperature and high pressure.
Hardwork and perseverance is needed by each and everyone of you. This is your
journey, make the first step count.
Again, welcome to the Accountancy Department, our dear freshmen.
