1. This Assignment 2 as alternative to Final Examination and contributes 50% to the
subject total marks.
2. Refer to the Instructions below in preparing your report - Maximum 30 pages, excluding
preliminary pages and appendices.

4. Please convert to PDF before submitting.
5. The deadline of the Assignment is on WEDNESDAY, 10 FEBRUARY 2021. Submit

COMPARISON BETWEEN OFFSHORE AND ONSHORE BANKING
SYSTEMS

Assignment Instructions:
You are required:
1. Select an offshore financial centre and an onshore/domestic financial system; e.g.
Labuan IBFC and Malaysian domestic financial system. Only focus on the banking
system.
2. Write a report on the banking system in offshore and onshore environment.
3. Make comparison between the offshore and onshore banking system.
Note: your focus should be on the systems and not the individual banks.

Report format and contents:


Your report should be in the following formats and contents:

1. Introduction
2. Regulation and licencing
3. Supervision system
4. Services provided or offered
5. Conclusion: Discussion on similarities and differences between offshore and onshore
banking systems.

Source for references:


Select from ANY ONE of the offshore financial centre banking systems and ANY ONE of
the onshore or domestic banking systems; not necessary from Malaysian and Labuan IBFC
banking systems.
Note: your focus should be on the systems and not the individual banks.
