You are on page 1of 3

Step 1: Finding your most highly searched (main) keyword

- Search amazon and find the top 15-20 best sellers of your product
(if you have helium 10, simply use the Xray chrome extension)

- Analyze their titles along with just using your own common sense
you should find a common theme of the same 1-2 keyword phrases being repeated over and over

- This is where you NEED a keyword tool. You probably know which tool I use and recommend (Helium 10).
use the Magnet tool and type in your main keyword idea into the search field. Then hit "Search"
- once the list is populated below, sort by "exact phrase search volume" so you have the highest searched at the top, in descending order.

Now you should have a pretty clear idea of what your main keyword is. Just make sure it's related 100% to your product because sometimes the tool will spit out unrelated keywords.
- simply hit the "x" next to any keyword in the list that doesn't relate to yours.

Step 2: Making Your Keyword List

- Now we have our base set in place. We have our main keyword. 90% of our secondary keywords will be derived from our main keyword.
that's why step 1 is so important.

- Remember that big list of keywords that the Helium10 Magnet spit out for us?
Go ahead and keep it sorted by using the exact match filter - now proceed to delete all keywords that are irrelevant to your product, brands, etc...

- We want the final keywords list to be clean, and full of your most highly searched AND related keyword phrases. Really dive deep on this (maybe 30-100) keyword phrases total
you want to copy/paste this list and keep it somewhere for reference because we will refer back to it very often

Step 3: Breaking Down Our List Into Single Words

- We now have our most highly trafficked, and related keywords for our listing.
these will be the keywords search phrases that we want to target when trying to rank our product (covered in the launch module)

- Did you know that in terms of your amazon listing being indexed for keywords, all Amazon cares about is the single words?

- We need to break down our big list of keywords into single words. You can do this manually, or do it the easy way by using the Helium10 "Frankenstein" Tool
- copy/paste your list into the field
- Make sure you "remove duplicates" "maintain numbers" then hit Process.
- Now Copy/Paste your new single words list and keep it somewhere safe for reference.

Step 4: Bonus (optional). Non Auto-Corrected Mispellings

- Amazon auto-corrects for most mispelled words, however there are still some that are not
- By using the Helium10 "Mispellenator" we now can copy/paste our new list of single words

- Let the tool do its magic and observe the results. You'll notice that amazon auto corrects for most of the mispellings, but there will be
a few (maybe 2-7) depending on your product that will be highly relevant mispellings that amazon does NOT auto correct for.

- copy/paste this list somewhere safe for later use. These will end up going in our "backend" search field

SUMMARY:

1. We know what our "Main" keyword is

2. We now have a full (accurate) list of our most searched for exact keyword phrases
3. We then broke that list down into single words
4. We then found all the mispellings of those single words that amazon does NOT auto-correct for

The base and glue for our product listing is now set. Let's set out keyword research aside and re-visit it after we finish our copyrighting.
