1.4 Precautions
1. To make better use of the detector, please read this operation manual carefully
before use.

2. Requirements of operating environment:

Ambient temperature: 0℃~40℃. Relative humidity: <90%RH. Don’t expose to
direct sunlight for long term. Corrosion protection: necessary precautions shall
be taken when used in damp, dusty or corrosive gas environment.
3. Requirements of storage environment
Ambient temperature: -20℃~+50℃. Relative humidity: <90%RH. When not in
use, please pack the device and store it under ventilation, cool and dry
environment. Don’t expose to direct sunlight for long term. If the device won’t be
used for a long time, power on and start up the device at regular intervals to have
a check.
4. Avoid water ingress.
5. Anti-magnetism: avoid using the device under intense magnetic field environment,
such as near large electromagnet and transformer.
ZBL-R660 Operation Manual of Integrated Rebar Detector

6. Vibration-proof: prevent strenuous vibration and shock during operation and

transportation.

1.5 Device Maintenance and Preservation

1. Power supply: the device is supplied by the special built-in rechargeable lithium
battery and can operate for about 14 hours continuously if it is fully charged. Please note
the battery level indication during the use. If the battery runs low, switch off the device as
fast as can and charge the device with the battery charger without delay, otherwise, the
test data may be lost and even the device might be damaged due to sudden power
failure. The device must not be supplied by other batteries and power sources.
Note: after the battery of the device is exhausted, system data and time may
be lost and require resetting after startup.
2. Battery charging: built-in lithium battery of the device. Support the charging by
MicroUSB standard port. When charging with the battery charger, connect the power plug
with the power socket of AC220±10%V and insert the other end of USB plug into USB
socket of the device. When the device’s charging indication is in red during the charging, it
denotes that the built-in battery of the device is being charged; when the indicator light
turns from red to yellow, it means that the built-in battery is fully charged. At that time, pull
out the battery charger or USB cable promptly, to avoid the overcharging which would
affect its service life.
Note: to ensure full charging, please keep continuous charging for about 4
hours and at the meantime don’t charge the device under the environment of above 60℃.
If the device won’t be used for a long time, the rechargeable battery would discharge
naturally, resulting in decreasing of battery level. Re-charge the device before use. During
charging, device and battery charger emit heat to a certain extent, which is normal. Good
ventilation shall be kept for device and battery charger to facilitate heat dissipation.
Note: don’t charge the device with other power adapters; otherwise, the
device might be damaged.
3. Rechargeable battery: the service life of rechargeable battery is about 500 times
for charging and discharging. When it is nearing the end of service life, if the battery is
found to operate abnormally (the battery cannot be charged at all, cannot be fully charged
or runs for a short time after every full charging), the rechargeable battery might be
damaged or reach to the end of its service life. Please contact us to replace new battery.
Don’t short-circuit the battery
Or, locate the battery near high temperature heat sources.
4. After every use, the device shall be cleaned properly, to prevent water, mud and
etc. from entering into the connector, thus resulting in performance reduction or damage
of the device.
5. Storage: when not in use, please pack the device and store it under ventilation,
cool, dry and room temperature environment.。 If the device won’t be used for a long time,
power on and start up the device at regular intervals to have a check.
Note: don’t put the device and its accessories into water or rinse
them with wet cloth!
Don’t rinse the device and its accessories with organic solvents!

When the device fails to detect the rebar signal, the targeting box and the centerline
coincide and are displayed in grey; when the device moves and approaches to the rebar
gradually, the targeting box moves away from the centerline first and then approaches to
the centerline gradually from the screen edge. When the device is directly above the rebar,
the targeting box and the centerline coincide and are displayed in red, and meantime the
red indicator light on the device is illuminated, accompanied by buzzing; when the device
moves away from the rebar gradually, the targeting box moves away from the centerline
again and moves towards the screen edge gradually; after the signal of detecting the
rebar signal disappears, the targeting box and the centerline coincide again and are
displayed in grey.
If the targeting box coincides with the centerline during moving, but does not turn red
and the yellow indicator light on the device is illuminated, it means that the device is
directly above the central position of two adjacent rebars and it is suitable to drill the core
here.
When the device judges the position of one rebar, it will refresh the display of the
determined thickness. If the automatic storage mode is set, the device will save the
current estimated thickness automatically, calculate and display the passing rate, at the
meanwhile update the number of stored test points; under manual storage mode, press
【OK】 key to store the thickness of the test point automatically.
The following key functions are supported during JGJ scan test process:
【】key: start the diameter test function;
【】key: switch to manual or automatic storage mode;
【】key: switch to large or small range;

4) JGJ scan mode is initiated by our company. When the retest parameter is set as 2,
two thickness values of each test point shall be stored under this mode. Take the
average of these two measuring thickness as the deductive thickness value of
current test point. The interface after activating the retest function is as shown in

3.2.1.4 Signal Scan (Dense Rebar Scan)

The signal scan is divided into two gears: “general wave scan” and “dense rebar
wave scan”. It displays wave form, rebar position, cover thickness, center distance of
adjacent rebar, diameter measurement of the rebar under test as well as manual adding
and deletion of rebar test points in real time by wave form diagram. Wherein, for the
measurement of "dense” rebar arrangement, the device is integrated with a new sensor of
special structure and meanwhile combined with a series of comprehensive analytical
algorithm, to determine the final accurate measuring results. The function has been
patented.
The dense rebar distribution is more common at the bottom of the girder in which the
clear rebar spacing is less than 1.5 times of rebar diameter. As the rebar spacing is too
small, the interaction between rebar results in that the rebar device is difficult to measure
and the difficulty increases as the cover thickness increases. Generally, the rebar position
shall be judged in real time under normal, profile and grid scan modes; therefore, it is not
suitable for scanning dense rebar. The signal scan is specially designed for the dense
rebar distribution.

Image scan aims to conduct scan within a square area designated by users and
drawing the cutting line on object with maximum 5X5 grid. Then scan in the following order.
The horizontal direction should be scanned for 2-5 times within 5x5 grid (the grid can be
2x2, 3x3, 4x4 ) and then the vertical direction should also be scanned for 2-5 times. The
precedence order for horizontal and vertical direction can be optional. Fig. 3.16 Image Scan

Note:The meaning of symbols on the object data list view interface is as follows:

No.——Number of current test point;

H —— The corresponding thickness value of current test point under JGJ scan mode;
Hx ——The corresponding thickness value of current test point in X direction under profile,
grid, image scan mode;
Hy ——The corresponding thickness value of current test point in Y direction under grid
scan mode;
Sx ——The corresponding displacement value of current test point in X direction under
profile, grid, image scan mode;
Sy ——The corresponding displacement value of current test point in Y direction under
grid scan mode;
△H ——The difference value between current test point thickness and design thickness;
△S ——The displacement difference between current test point and the previous one;
