Instrument inspection - the case is clean and free from residue, especially near moving parts.

Instrument inspection - Keys, labels, and markings are free of damage and are clearly legible.

Instrument inspection - visually inspect all IUI connectors for damage, bent pins, and signs of corrosion. (Replace
if found)

Instrument inspection - each key is illuminated by backlight.
Instrument inspection - Examine the power cord assembly for signs of damage, cuts, or deformities in the cord.
Instrument inspection - Examine the power cord assembly for integrity of hospital grade power plug (attempt to
wiggle the blades to determine that they are secure.
Instrument inspection - Examine the power cord assembly for appropriate tension and connection if the IV pole
has electrical receptacles for accessories.
Instrument inspection - Examine the strain reliefs at both ends of the line cord. (be sure they hold the cord
securely)
Simultaneous Display: Look for missing pixels (display elements) as each screen appears.
Simultaneous Display: The displays alternate dark gray, light gray, white, red, green, and blue screens.
Simultaneous Display: If the screen brightness or contrast appears weak, check the contrast setting. (optional)
IUI Connectors: Verify that “3” appears for Expected and Actual Number of Devices, and “Pass” appears under
the numbers.
Alarm: Do you hear the PC Unit speaker alarming?
Keypad: Press and hold the tamper Switch for at least two seconds, until there is a response to the test.
Keypad: Press every key once, and verify green text appears for that key.
Set the PM Reminder Date.
Replace the battery.
