Painting Works of Stopper

a) The painting works of steel box stopper shall conform to IRS: B1-2001 (CL. 39.2.1).
b) The Contractor shall do the painting works as per the approved Method Statement, having
details of paint material, general items for painting works, quality management, curing and
work sequence
Installation of Stoppers
a) Stoppers shall be installed as per the approved Method Statement and as specified in the
drawings.
b) The installation position of the stoppers shall be surveyed by the Contractor as to the
distance from track centre, installation level, centre spacing for longitudinal and transverse
directions, installation direction, inclination and any other details that may be required by
the Engineer or the Contractor. Installation position as surveyed above, shall be marked at
site. Installation position of movable side shall be determined to secure the predetermined
movable clearance considering expansion and contraction caused by temperature variation,
creep and drying shrinkage of the girder.
c) Unless otherwise indicated in the drawing, installation of stoppers is as follows.
Installation before launching the girder (e.g. cantilever or span-by-span erection)
i. Installation position, level, direction and verticality of stopper shall be checked
prior to installation of stopper. Movable direction shall be checked whether it
corresponds to expansion and contraction direction.
ii. Recess of substructure in which stopper is to be installed shall be cleaned prior
to the installation of stopper.
iii. After stopper is supported temporarily, a recess of substructure shall be filled
with non-shrink grout.
iv. Temporarily fixing device of stopper shall be able to support until the
compressive strength of non-shrink grout attains 8 MPa or more.
Installation after launching the girder (e.g. erection by jack pushing): In this case,
stopper is installed from the outside of girder by providing temporary opening in the
top slab of girder.
i. Installation of stopper shall comply with item (c)(1), above.
ii. If the girder is launched with the stopper being hung inside, measures to
prevent falling off the stopper shall be taken. Stopper shall not be damaged
