HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND INFORMATICS 2

Introduction

In life, planning is a crucial aspect, which offers practical guidelines for the achievement

of objectives. The planning strategy is contributed by workflow redesign, project charter, and

process mapping aspects. These strategies ensure the accomplishment of the goals and outline

the best practices and directions. Likewise, they play a role in health information systems in a

healthcare organization. Data mining ensures an increase in health care information accessibility

and usability aspects. The analysis of ethical or legal and safety issues in health information

technology is essential. This study focuses on the workflow redesign creation, current health

information systems, advanced analytics healthcare techniques, and ethical or legal and safety

issues.

Workflow redesign

Project charter involves a document that outlines project details revealing its objectives,

the stakeholders, and project participants. This course allowed me to learn that a project charter

can assist the project manager in planning effectively. This course gave me skills and knowledge

of creating project charter by considering the objectives, duration, and stakeholders. The project

charter can be made using several templates and is usually presented during project initiation

(Starns, 2019). This document is essential as it outlines a business case, project scope, goals and

offers direction for its completion.

Workflow design includes mapping out the essential tasks that had to take an item from

one aspect to another. It also contains duties linked by the executive function where multiple

inputs and outputs are connected in a sequential strategy (Her et al., 2018). I learned that

workflow design entails crucial components, such as input, transformation, and output. The

workflow design is included in the project charter, thus offering essential guidelines. I learned

that workflow design is faced by specific barriers, such as poor communication that affects

performance and poor visibility, creating information silos.

The best practices for workflow redesign involve the input, transformation, and output

aspects. Consideration of these aspects increases the workflow redesigns practices. It involves

other methods of computing the process measure and evaluating the strategy and analysis.

Current health information systems

Health information systems play a crucial role in the health organization sector in

delivering effective services. However, these systems include the electronic medical record,

master patient index, patient portals, and remote patient monitoring services. I acquired

knowledge in the creation and analysis of process maps (Andargoli et al., 2017). This map is

created by identifying the issue, brainstorming activities, figuring out the boundaries, steps

sequence analysis, drawing basic flowchart symbols, and finalizing the process. The process map

is used to analyze and manage workflows to ensure objectives are achieved effectively

(Andargoli et al., 2017). The analysis strategy involves process selection, recognizing the process

phase's scope, planning and scheduling resources, mapping techniques selection, interview

performance, analysis, and evaluation aspects.

The healthcare programs of care create crucial outcomes and care systems. The outcome

measures reveal the health care services' impact on patients' health status. The care programs,

such as implementing a current health information system, help achieve effective best care

practices. Likewise, the care services result from increasing patient's health, good reputation of

the organization, and implementing advanced techniques (Andargoli et al. 2017). I learned that

safety and increase in patient's health status are essential aspects of the outcome measures.

Advanced analytics techniques

Advanced analytics techniques, such as artificial intelligence, are involved in healthcare

services. These techniques aid in screening, diagnosing, and detecting patient deterioration signs.

Big data play a role in the healthcare industry as it transforms the institution and positively

impacts people's lives. It affects the institution by increasing its performance and allowing

extensive information management.

Data mining aids in increasing the process and ensuring the data moves smoothly from

one phase to another. It provides useful data prediction or information trends in healthcare

settings, as this information aids in saving more patients' lives. I learned that data mining

involves the concept extension where large data sets are analyzed effectively for similarity to

enable precise outcomes prediction (Medvedev et al., 2017). Data mining aids in increasing the

accessibility and usability of health care information. It aids in the analysis of workflow design

and advanced analytics techniques involved in a healthcare institution.

Ethical/ legal and safety issues

Healthcare institutions face ethical or legal and safety issues in using health information

technology in genomic data and nanotechnology. The complexity encountered in genomic data

management and utilization includes data security and confidentiality aspects. Several problems

arise in the storage of this data resulting in insecurity issues. Nanotechnology impacts the

healthcare industry through effective diagnosis, monitoring, drug delivery, and offering crucial

research tools for drug discovery. This technology allows therapeutics to achieve diseased tissue

while avoiding healthy cells (Joob & Wiwanitkit, 2017). Likewise, it enables crucial

development in the healthcare sector by delivering vaccines. However, health information

technology increases patient's safety by reducing medical errors, adverse drug reactions and

improve compliance to practice guidelines. Likewise, this technology ensures an increase in

healthcare quality and safety aspects. I learned that electronic clinical quality aids in the quality

data model, values sets, and quality reporting document architecture. The electronic clinical

quality measures aid in measuring and tracking health care services quality, thus increasing

safety aspects. These measures analyze patient care outcomes, treatment, and safety factors.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this study focused on the workflow redesign creation, current health

information systems, advanced analytics healthcare techniques, and ethical or legal and safety

issues. Project charter involves a document that outlines project details revealing its objectives,

the stakeholders, and project participants. The best practices for workflow redesign involve the

input, transformation, and output aspects that play a role in the project charter. Health

information systems play a crucial role in the health organization sector in delivering effective

services. However, big data play a role in the healthcare industry as it transforms the institution

and positively impacts people's lives. Data mining ensures useful data prediction or information

trends in healthcare settings, as this information aids in saving more patients' lives. Healthcare

institutions face ethical or legal and safety issues in using health information technology in

genomic data and nanotechnology.
