About the awards

Our Dedicated Teacher Awards invite students, teachers or anyone with an inspiring teacher
story to share it with us so we can find and celebrate the world’s most dedicated teachers.
Six finalists will appear in all of our books published in 2021 – you might recognise last
year’s finalists above! These teachers will also win Cambridge University Press resources, an
invitation to our teacher community – the Cambridge Panel – and a host of other goodies.
Finalists will go to a public vote and the overall winner will be:
• Named Cambridge University Press Dedicated Teacher 2021
• Heavily promoted through marketing and PR
• Dedicated Teacher 2021 trophy

To nominate a teacher, you or your students can submit a written entry of no more than
150 words. Or submit a video of no more than 2 minutes long.

Just go to: dedicatedteacher.cambridge.org

Nominations close 12th March 2021
Tell a story about your favourite teacher
What is it that makes your teacher so special? Have they done something that made you smile? Have they
helped you understand a difficult subject, or inspired you when you were ready to give up? In the box
below, write about a time your teacher did something special for you.

Please write your story in English and use a maximum of 150 words.

These categories might help you to think about the things your teacher has done:

• Going above and beyond

• Caring for you
• Making ordinary lessons, extraordinary
• Helping you decide on your future after school

Here is an example if you are stuck:

My teacher is so passionate about her subject! Instead of simply explaining the solar system to us in class,
she created a huge model outside using different sized balls. She even had students turning them at
different speeds to represent the planets’ orbits! This really helped me remember facts about our solar
system and I now want to continue my study of physics when I finish school.

Once you have written your story, you can use it to nominate your teacher for the Cambridge University
Press Dedicated Teacher Awards! To nominate, go to dedicatedteacher.cambridge.org, click nominate
and fill in your information. Good luck!
Are you a Head Teacher or Head of Year? Do you feel your colleagues
deserve to be nominated for the Dedicated Teacher Awards 2021?
It might feel awkward speaking to parents about nominations, or perhaps
you’re unsure how to encourage students to vote for their favourite teacher.
We’ve created a handy email template that you can use as a guide when
communicating the Dedicated Teacher Awards to parents.
Best of luck with the nominations!

Dear Parent,
I am writing to you to let you know that the Dedicated Teacher Awards 2021 are now
open for nominations.

The Dedicated Teacher Awards are a global competition run by Cambridge University
Press, where students can nominate their favourite teacher and give them a big thank you.
For example, your child might like to nominate their teacher for driving them many miles
to an extra-curricular competition, making a remote lesson come to life with videos or
props, or for something as simple as being there when they needed to talk.

All of the teachers at our school love their work and are very proud of the students they
teach. If your child would like to show their appreciation, they are able to find out more
and nominate their teacher for the awards by visiting dedicatedteacher.cambridge.org

Although we would be delighted to receive any nominations, please do not feel that
this is compulsory or in any way expected of you or your child.

Thank you very much.

Yours faithfully,
Head Teacher/Head of Year
