Why I want to be a teacher.

When I was in elementary school, I do not remember the exact grade there was

this student teacher that used to come in class and would bring so much laughter and

fun into the class and I remembered thinking I want to be him when I grow up. I cannot

remember much from that time since it was so long ago, but I remember that was the 1 st

time I really thought about what I wanted to be when I was an adult. Later in life,

becoming a teacher left my mind and I carried on with many different types of jobs just

passing time and never really had a passion for what I was doing, and it was only a job

to me and never a career. I have always had a passion for kids and many of my jobs

included working with them in some type of way. I love to babysit, and I ended up being

a nanny for a girl, from the age 6 months to 3 years old, but as she grew up and I had to

move on.

As time moved on, I had many jobs, hobbies and interests but when I met my

husband’s family, he had an older sister that was working in education and this sparked

something in me that I long forgot about, being an educator. As she and I became

closer we talked more about her life as an educator and I always felt like I should be

one too but never pursued it. But After I had my both my kids, and they were both

walking I decided that it was time to stop thinking about becoming a teacher and start

going to school to become one.

I have always been an extremely passionate and creative person. I have a deep

love for working with kids and helping them learn and create. With my kids and family

children we would always craft and learn together for a fun activity when we were

together. I think this passion and creativity will be a good asset for me when I become

an educator. I know its not always going to be fun and games, but I would hope when I

become a teacher, I can make learning fun for them.

Sometimes I worry that I will not be able to pass all the classed, tests and

licenses that are required for educators. Its not as easy as just getting your degree and

applying for a job, you also need to pass all the required licenses that the state you

want to teach in requires and more. When looking into the details of becoming a teacher

can become overwhelming but I am trying to focus on my degree and try my best to get

it all done.
