I. INTRODUCTION :

Ethnic is pertaining to or characteristic of a people, especially a group

(ethnicgroup) sharing acommon and distinctive culture, religion, language, or the
like. Belonging to or deriving from the cultural, religious, or linguistic traditions of a
people or country:ethnicdances.
The is inhabited by more than 175 nations, the
majority of whoselanguages are in origin. Many of these nations
converted to particularly the lowland
-coastal nations, and adopted
foreign elements of culture.
In western and the there are ethnolinguistic
nations who practice The Spanish called them after the
despite no resemblance or cultural ties to them apart from their religion. In
the and the highlands of Mindanao, there are native ethnic groups
collectively known as the Most maintain their animistic beliefs and
traditions, though me
so of them have converted to Christianity as well.

The Negrito were among the earliest humans to settle the

Philippines. The first known were the people of the Tabon man
remains. The Negrito population was estimated in 2004 at around
31,000. Their tribal groups include the Ati, and the Aeta. Their ways
of life remain mostly free from Western and Islamic influences.
Scholars study them to try to understand pre-Hispanic culture.
Ethnic groups may be subdivided into subgroups or tribes, which
over time may become separate ethnic groups themselves due to
endogamy or physical isolation from the parent group. Conversely,
formerly separate ethnicities can merge to form a pan-ethnicity and
may eventually merge into one single ethnicity. Whether through
division or amalgamation, the formation of a separate ethnic identity
is referred to as ethnogenesis.

An ethnic group or ethnicity is a category of people who identify with each other, usually on the basis of
presumed similarities such as a common language, ancestry, history, society, culture, nation, religion, race
or social treatment within their residing area. Ethnicity is often used synonymously with the term nation,
particularly in cases of ethnic nationalism, and is separate from, but related to the concept of races.
The term ethnic is derived from the Greek word ethnos more precisely, from the adjective ethnikos, which
was loaned into Latin as ethnicus. The inherited English language term for this concept is folk, used
alongside the latinate people since the late Middle English period.

to enforce the “bodong” or peace pacts within the sub-tribes to resolve tribal conflicts.
Scholars and enthusiasts worldwide now flock to the province to learn the ancient method of
