Guala Filling Nozzle PM
Guala Filling Nozzle PM
Purpose:
The purpose of this procedure is to outline the preventive maintenance and rebuild
procedures for the Guala filling nozzles.
Frequency:
This procedure is to be followed based on the PM frequency (4 Week cycle on every
filler).
Personnel Responsible:
All maintenance personnel who have been trained to carry out the procedure outlined in
this document.
Notes:
All filling nozzles have been numbered using the convention C01, C02, etc. (C for
Canada/ONT Plant). Number to be placed on the mid-section of the filling nozzle
body. This is due to the fact that filling nozzle bases may be periodically
replaced.
Child asset numbers are assigned to each filling nozzle.
Filling nozzles are tracked and maintained based on child asset number.
Procedure:
2. Inspect the liquid spool, Part #: 1DRM3P-125840 for damage or rough surfaces.
Pay close attention to the shutting surface, shown in the photo below. If this
surface is rough, product leaks can occur.

4. Inspect the seal at the bottom of the nozzle base (Seal Part #126594). If damage
or roughness is observed, replace the seal.
NOTE: When replacing Seal Part #126594, use a pick or a small flathead
screwdriver to remove the seal from the top. Never use any tools to remove the
seal from the bottom opening of the filling nozzle base. This can cause damage
to the pouch straw contact area, which can result in damage to the pouch straw
during filling.
7. Replace all seals following the procedure below. The photo below shows the
location of the three remaining seals to be replaced.
a. Replace the seal at the top of the filler nozzle base (seal Part #:
CTNR12F-HPUR), and the connecting plate (seal Part #: CTNPSSP22-
HPUR).
b. Replace the small seal Part #: CTNS35P-HPUR, which seals around the
gas spool.
Hint: use the “bell” to help seat the seal in position.
c. Use a small amount of JAX Halo-Guard FG Food Grade grease on all
seals.
Note: when installing the fork onto the threaded cylinder piston, ensure that the
cylindrical pin (3 in the photo below) is in place, and that the piston is threaded all
the way to the cylindrical pin. Apply a small amount of blue Loctite #242 on the
thread. Refer to the photos below.
9. Test the push-to-connect air fittings for leaks. Replace the fittings if leaks are
detected.
