OBJECTIVES IN PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH

At the end of RLE, the student will be able to:

1. Utilize the nursing process to administer care for patients/families with clearly
defined, commonly occurring health care needs and problems.
2. Demonstrate therapeutic communication, including therapeutic use of self.
3. Develop and implement nursing care plans that meet the needs of assigned
psychiatric/mental health clients
4. Demonstrate excellence in patient education,management and treatment.

5. Demonstrate a commitment to achieving personal and professional excellence,


including self-directed learning, reflective practice, the critical evaluation of the
performance of peers and self, and promotion of collaborative learning.
6. Develop outcomes that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time‐
limited.
7. Understand and have knowledge on how to assist in promoting and supporting a
person will mental health problem and enabling them to have more involvement
and control over their condition.
