Introduction
Out of all the perks that come with joining Lego VIP, collecting points is perhaps the
greatest advantage. Listed as one of the best 100 global brands in 2018, Lego
continues to inspire creative children, teenagers, and adults. Numerous Lego products
received recognition by the Toy Company in their 2020 Toy of the Year Awards. The
three products mentioned include: Lego City Deep Space Rocket and Launch Control,
Lego Boost Star Wars Droid Commander, and Lego Stranger Things The Upside Down.
In this post, I’ll be showing you the necessary steps so you can start earning points. But
before we get to that, we need to discuss what Lego points are and why they’re
important.

What are Lego Points and Why do They Matter?

Points are earned by making a purchase on lego.com or at a Lego Store, in which these
points can be used at these stores as well. The points system works like this: for every
dollar you spend, you’ll earn five VIP points. Once you’ve earned 500 points, you can
take $5 off your next purchase.
The points system has recently been updated, and now there are even more ways to
earn points. We’ll explore each of these methods in more detail below.

Join Lego VIP

Since points are for VIP members only, you’ll have to first make an account. It’s free to
join and you can register online or by visiting a local Lego Store. Not only will you start
earning points, but you’ll be able to access online rewards and get early access to
products and events. Registrants must be 18 years of age or older.

Purchase Lego Products

Once you’ve made an account, it’s time to begin shopping. Points are earned on every
eligible purchase (i.e., not a gift card), and can be earned by purchasing online, over the
phone, or at a Lego Store. If you’re shopping online, make sure you’ve signed in with
your Lego ID. If you’re purchasing by phone or in-store, you’ll have to provide the 9-digit
number located on your VIP Card.

Before redeeming your points, be sure to visit the Lego Rewards Centre and redeem
your Lego voucher. Although you could use the points quite spontaneously before,
under the new points system, you’ll have to first redeem this voucher. Within 24 hours
the voucher will be processed, and you’ll have 30 days to spend it before it expires.

Social Media Qualified Activities

In addition to purchasing Lego products, you can earn points through social media
engagement. Past activities have included:

- Retweeting and sharing posts

- Following Lego on Facebook and Twitter
- Clicking emails

For a list of current activities, please sign into your account and visit the Lego VIP
Dashboard. Certain limitations may apply (these can also be found on the dashboard).
It’s a good idea to sign in regularly so that you can check your points balance and
accrue as many points as possible!

Closing
With COVID-19 taking its toll and requiring us to practise social distancing, now is a
great time to buy Lego and begin collecting points by becoming a VIP member. It’s free
to join, and if you’re going to spend money, you may as well receive some perks.
