Gas Turbine meter chown whith Model MRT 07 Flow TotalizerAcCURATE MEASUREMENT EXPLAINED
SL
{A the ges flow eniers the meter inlet, iis guided through a flow
area created by the inside diameter of the meter and the outside
diameter of the flow deflector. The flow deflector or nose cone is
used to increase the velocity of the gas to prepare its entry to the
meter rotor. The increase in velocity provides ample rotor driving
‘ore.
‘Alter the flowing gas has been accelerated it flows through the
‘meter rotor. The rotor is designed with a specific number of blades
positioned at a precise angie to the flow stream. The gas impinges,
‘on the rotor blades causing the rotor to rotate. The angular velocity
of the rotor is diractly proportional to the gas velocity and conse-
‘quently to the volumetric ‘low rate.
Hence, by accurately measuring the rotor rotation the volumet-
ric flow rate can be determined.
The Danie! Gas Turbine Meter is furnished with two magnetic
pick ups wt ‘sense the rotation of the rotor throuch accurately
positioned magnets in the rotor hub. As the magnet passes the coil
it produces a voltage pulse which represents a discret unit of
volume. The turbine meter output is rated in pulses por unit
volume.
Daniel offers two independent isolated pick ups which can be
used with Daniel local totalizers and/or flow instrumentation capable
of aocopting inputs of pressure, temperature and density ‘rensduc-
ers for calculations of corrected flow or mass.

Before the Daniel Electro-Magnetic Gas Turbine Meter is installed, a rotor spin test should be conducted and
recorded for future reference. The spin test procedure is described on Page 6.

elFieLp SERVICE
The Daniel Ges Turbine Meter should be checked
periodically with the type of service determining the
frequency of inspection. A wet gas stream may require
inspection only once per year while dry, dusty gas may
require service as frequently as 30 days. Periodic in-
spections are necessary fortworeasons: (1) tocheck the
spin time to insure rangeabilty of the mater, and (2) to
visually check internal parts. Field service checks may
becomplemented by meter provingto insureaccuracyot
measurement. For recommended proving techniques,
see proving section of this mantial
