• Refers to achieving and exercising positions of

MOTIVATORS
Values are a person’s standards of behaviour and are
considered as judgement of what is important in life.
It is also the criteria people use in assessing their
daily lives, arranging their priorities, and choosing
between alternative courses of action.

Beliefs is something one accepts as true or real. It
takes the form of firmly held opinion or conviction,
regardless of the lack of verifiable evidence. It may
be based on tradition, faith, experience, scientific
research or some combination of these.

ISTAMBAY
Istambay is a Visayan transliteration of the
English word “stand by” meaning to hang around.
The word has eventually come to refer to a certain
subculture of idle people, usually males, most
common in depressed communities, habitually
gathering and spending idle time together.

Gary graduated a year ago. Despite being blessed
with several job offers, he chose to remain jobless

Food taboo is abstaining people from food
and/or beverage consuming due to religious and
cultural reasons. It can be permanent or temporal.
Permanent food taboos are avoiding food and/or
drinks throughout their life, while some foods are
avoided for certain periods of time.

Members of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church are
strongly prohibited from eating pork and food with
blood, as well as from smoking and drinking alcoholic
beverages.

Political dynasty
Political dynasties are typically characterized as
families that have established their political or economic
dominance in a province and have coordinated efforts to
move on to involvement in national government or other
positions of national political that treats people
prominence. Members of such dynasties usually do not
limit their involvement to strictly political activities, and
have been found participating in business or culture-
related activities."

Padrino system, or patronage in Filipino
culture and politics, is the value system where one
gains favor, promotion, or political appointment
through family affiliation (nepotism) or friendship
