What is Anthropology

The word anthropology comes from the Greek words anthropos meaning human and

logea meaning study. Scholars define anthropology as the study of human diversity

around the world. The spectrum of anthropological study is wide and includes sub

categories like socio-cultural, physical, medical, forensic and even business anthropology.

Because of the breadth of possibilities of study, a person with a degree in anthropology

can pursue a number of different career paths.

Though it is commonly perceived that they only work with indigenous people and

cultures, anthropologists study everything from corporate culture to human evolution.

Anthropology is a field of extreme diversity. While science experiments can be conducted

over and over again, humans and human nature are infinitely variable according to time

period, location, gender, ethnicity, religion and countless other circumstances.

Anthropologists study these variances in hopes of making connections and forming a
