Abstract (to be completed after completion of Section 3)

Section 1

Background of the Problem

In doctoral study, the section provides an overview of the essential facts about the subject matter.

The reader needs to understand these facts to guarantee that they get a full understanding of the

text.

Problem Statement

In a doctoral study, the problem statement is an important component in the completion of

projects. It is an important step in the improvement of projects. The development of a clearly

defined and properly understood problem statement is important to guarantee that effective

solutions are proposed in line with the findings.

Purpose Statement

The purpose of this paper is to complete an evaluation of the doctoral study. It will analyze why

different components are used in a doctoral study and sufficient justifications provided

appropriately (Akaeze, 2016). Moreover, the paper will describe the methods that may be

appropriate to guide the completion of a doctoral research study.

Nature of the Study

The nature of the study refers to the statistical design developed for the study. In the case of a

doctoral study, the nature of the study informs the conditions under which the study is made. The

nature of study takes different forms including;

 Surveys

 Controlled experiments

 Observational studies

 Case-control study

Research Question(s)

The research question is While providing justification, why are different components used in a

doctoral study? This research question should align perfectly with the problem and the purpose

statement of the study.

Hypotheses (quantitative/mixed-methods) or Interview Questions (qualitative)

In a doctoral study a hypothesis refers to the specific statement that the study seeks to predict. It

is a statement that normally describes in details what is expected to happen in the study (Savelle,

2015). However, not all the studies normally have a hypothesis. Alternatively interview

questions may be used in such study alternatives. Some of the doctoral studies are designed to be

exploratory.

Theoretical Framework (quantitative) or Conceptual Framework (qualitative)

The theoretical framework is a component that seeks to define the central concepts used in

research. The framework is used to propose the relationship that exists between them the

different concepts in the research study. Finally, the framework identifies the relevant theories

based on the literature review and provide a discussion of the findings.

DOCTORAL STUDY COMPONENTS 4

The conceptual framework covers one or more theories as well as other concepts and empirical

findings from the research literature. It is used to show the possible relationships that may exist

in the ideas being researched in the doctoral study.

Operational Definitions

One of the central features to a successful research is the inclusion of operational definitions to

the measurement of concepts. Consequently, the operational definition refers to the way in which

a specific variable is measured in a particular study.
