INSTALL AND SETUP X4I EXERCISE

INSTRUCTIONS

The following exercise is to familiarize on the setup of the X4i Controller for 2 units of rotary
simulators. The X4i is a basic system controller that controls 2 to 4 compressors. Proper
installation and setup is the key factor during commissioning of the new controller.

You will use the designated training X4i simulator, and two Electronic Controller simulators
for this exercise. This exercise is marked and contributes to your final score for the course.

The following activities are to be performed:

1. Wire up the IR-PCB to the Electronic Controller simulators

2. Wire up the X4i to the IR-PCB
3. Configure the X4i Controller
4. Verify the operation of the Electronic Controller simulators with the X4i

Note:
1. All fields of each form are to be completed.
2. Put a Tick on each box after completing the steps
3. Participants will be assessed on the criteria at the attached Performance Checklist.

PROCEDURES

Exercise Scenario

Electronic Controller simulator with Remote Load/Unload and Remote Load Enable inputs –
Configured as compressor#1 and compressor#2 in the network with a capacity of 600 cfm
Customer downstream pressure expectation – 110psi
Customer prefers FILO operation and would want a rotation of sequence on every day
2300hrs. When the X4i is stopped, all compressors must goes back to local control

1. Wire up the IR-PCB to the Electronic Controller simulators

a. Connect control cables supplied with the IR-PCB kit from Electronic Controller

simulators to the IR-PCB as shown in the diagram

b. Provide a suitable 115Vac to the Electronic Controller simulators

2. Wire up the IR-PCB to the X4i Simulator

a. Connects X4i Terminal PCB Terminal X01 to IR-PCB for 1st Electronic

Controller simulator as shown above

b. Connects X4i Terminal PCB Terminal X01 to IR-PCB for 2nd Electronic

Controller simulator as shown above

3. Wire up the X4i simulator

a. Connects 115/230Vac to XPM-TAC24 Terminal X01 L (X01-2), N (X01-1) and

E (X01-3)

b. XPM-TAC24 Terminal X04 configured as __________________________
