What is a microwave oven?

A microwave oven is an appliance that is used in the kitchen to heat food and
that works by generating electromagnetic waves. It is now essential in all
homes due to the advantages it presents compared to the conventional oven.
Microwaves heat food quickly, conveniently and without making dishes dirty.
Cooking with them, or heating a prepared dish, we save time and energy
compared to traditional ovens.

Microwave characteristics

Here's how a microwave oven works:

To heat up, the food has to contain water or another polar liquid (with
molecules with a positive end and a negative end). If not, it doesn't heat up.
That is why an empty plate or cup is not heated, so whenever we want to hear
something, water must be added to it;
Dehydrating or cooking food beyond heating (to the point of toasting or
burning) can lead to microwave oven damage;

The heat flows, as in conventional ovens, from the outside to the inside of the
food, but the outer zone is much larger;

You should never put something with sealed liquid, such as a raw egg in the
shell, or a closed glass container. The effect is that the water heats up until it
becomes steam, which expands, generating great pressure, and can explode;

Due to their frequency, some microwave ovens can interfere with Wi-Fi and
Bluetooth signals that also work in the 2.4Ghz range.

Microwave functions

The microwave oven is an appliance used in the kitchen to cook or heat food
that works by generating electromagnetic waves at the frequency of radiation
around 2450 MHz (2.45 109 Hz).
