Electrician
● My occupation for this assignment is an Electrician.
● Electricians install and fix all of the electrical and power systems for homes,
buildings, and factories. They install and maintain the wiring of power systems
from which the electricity flows.
● The average GROSS salary for an electrician is $5176.34/month ($62,116.08/
year)
● The average NET salary for an electrician is $3,928/month ($47,136/year)
Dwelling
● Located on 433 Valermo DR. N
● Me and Rayhan have access to the whole basement, along with two parking
spaces and the backyard for the price of $1,795/monthly.
● Since I’m living with Rayhan we decided to spit the price, this way we each of
us pay $897.50 each per month.
● We’re also nearby local libraries, Rec Centre with a pool, bike trails, parks,
TTC, major highways, and an airport only 15 minutes away.
Dwelling Continued:
Cell Phone and Internet/TV/Home Phone plan
● My Cell Phone plan consist of unlimited talk and
text across Canada for $50/monthly.
● My plan does not have access to data.
● My Internet/TV/Home Phone plan comes with a
long range of sports, family, and entertainment
channels, with high speed internet and unlimited
local calling. Long distance calls: 40 cents/min
● I get all of this just for $149.85/monthly. Not
including Cell Phone plan
● Since I’m splitting the Internet/TV/Home Phone
plan with Rayhan, we only pay $74.93 each per
month.
Other Spendings
● Metropass: $146.25/month
● Taxi/Uber: $50/month
● Medical/Dental: $100/month
● Groceries: $250/month
● Restaurants: $100/month
● Clothes: $150/month
● Entertainment/Movies: $50/month
● Family/Gifts: $100/month
● Interest/Hobbies: $200/month
● Sports: $125 (not monthly)
● Club: $80/month
● Charity: $10.10/month
● Bank fees: $5/month
Amount of Savings
● Emergency Savings: $800/month
● Savings (3yrs X 10%): $18,634.82
● Savings after expenses: $597.97/month ($7,175.64/year)
● With $7,175.64 in future savings, I might look to purchase a used car rather than
taking TTC or Taxi/Uber, or I could save more money for a few more years.
● I might use the money towards buying more of the things that I might want or
come to interest in the future. Things like clothes, electronics, video games, etc.
Biggest Budgeting Challenges
● The toughest part about creating a budget is realizing what your going to pay for and
how much.
● You have to realize how much your going to spend on your internet, phone bill, rent,
etc - things that you must pay monthly in order to have the luxuries that you would
usually have in your home.
● The most important thing is keeping track of your savings and your emergency
savings, that way if there ever comes a time where you want to treat yourself you
know you are able to do so
