STANDARD SPECIFICATION NO. 41A4 ASPHALT PAVING KUWAIT NATIONAL PETROLEUM COMPANY (K.S.C Page 2 Rev. 1 Date: Jul. 18, 1983 ASPHALT PAVING KNPC ENG STD 41A4 1 scope 1.1 This specification describes the material and construction procedures for asphalt paving and surfacing of roads and paved are: 1.2 Materials, construction, inspection, and testing shall conform to the requirements of the “Government of Kuwait, Ministry of Public Works, Roads and Drainage Department, Document 111-1, General Specification: nafter referred to as General Specifications. 11 be the contractor's responsibility to ind and to become fully familiar with the contents of the General Specifications. 1.3 In case of any conflict between the General Specifications and this specification, this specification shall govern. 2 ENGINEER Where the term Engineer is used it shall mean a KNPC Engineer or his authorized representative who has the authority to inspect and approve all portions of the contractor's work. 3. DRAWINGS Paving shall be in conformance with lines, grades and typical cross-sections on the project drawings. 4° SURVEY ‘The paving contractor shall be responsible for all surveying work to establish grades and dimensions. It is the Fesponsibility of the contractor to bring his control from existing survey monuments shown on project drawings. 5S MATERIALS Material requirements shall be in conformance with the t drawings and the General Specifications. The subg: scarified to a depth of 9 inches for th of paving. After ecarifying the subgrade shall b compacted to 95 percent of maximum dry Génsity determined by AASHTO T180. All compaction shall be within 2 percent of optimum moisture content. Construction requirements shall be in conformance with the project drawings and the General Specification 7 INSPECTION, TESTING AND APPROVALS ma 13 All work and materials under this specification and the project dravings shall be subjected to inspection and acceptance by the Engineer. it ie the Contractor's responsibility to request inspection prior to proceeding with further work that would make ible for inspection. Any work that does not meet the requirenents of the plans and specification will be required to be repaired or removed and replaced. ‘The contractor shall be instructed by KNPC when he is to provide a fully equipped onsite laboratory for the exclusive use of the Engineer. Inspection, testing and control of materials, and approvals shall be in accordance with the General Specifications and the project drawings. 68 EQUIPMENT All equipment used for paving shall be in conformace with the General specifications. CLEAN-UP The contractor shall clean up the job site prior to acceptance of the work. All dirt, spoil, and debria of any nature shall be removed and the site shall present a clean appearance.
