ETHOS
Scandinavian Cello Society was founded in 2016 to support, educate and promote young cellists. There is no tuition fee for
participants at any SCS project.

With a vast global network, in 2018 SCS opened the world’s first permanent cello center and retreat based in Stevns, Denmark
with the motto “become the best version of yourself”

DIRECTOR
Jacob Shaw was born in London and attended the Yehudi Menuhin School, before his studies took him to France, Germany,
the USA and Denmark. Following a solo career spanning 5 continents he launched a consultancy service for musicians.

Passionate about working with young musicians he has taught internationally and educated numerous international prize
winning cellists.



HISTORY
SCS has helped over 200 cellists internationally since its founding in 2016. It has never charged any tuition fee.
 Alongside mentoring, it has provided an extensive network for young cellists and facilitated lessons and performance
opportunities alongside giving special prizes at international cello competitions. From 2020 SCS has welcomed artists and
 musicians of all genres and most recently launched SCS Bespoke Retreats for culturally interested members of the public.


