December 2020

First and foremost, I wish you and your families well during these trying times. I also
wish you a very happy and safe holiday season. Please be safe, protect yourselves and
your families and remember that we are stronger together than apart … and that soon,
this too shall pass.

The Knights of the Square Table Executive Board and the Past Grand Knights would like
to thank each and every member for the great job you are doing in these difficult times
and know that you are part of the fiber of this great fabric that makes us an excellent team. We will continue to strive
to work together and not allow any outside entity whether it be political party or private company to sour our actions
or separate us.

During the holiday season I would suggest that you reach out and help someone or volunteer at a homeless shelter,
veterans’ home, or in your local community. Everyone needs some holiday cheer to keep their spirits up.

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day December 7 - Each year in the United States, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance
Day honors all those who lost their lives when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. More than 3,500
Americans lost their lives or were wounded on that solemn day.

The day marked a turn in the United States’ position regarding involvement in World War II. The Japanese attack
damaged several battleships, permanently sinking both the USS Arizona and USS Oklahoma. Others capsized,
taking crew members with them. One noted ship was the USS Utah. Along with naval vessels, the attack destroyed
aircraft, too. As a result, the attack forced the U.S. into a war that had been raging for two years.

Organizations across the country honor the memory of Pearl Harbor with tributes; survivors share their stories and
join in reunions. Traditionally the flag of the United States is flown at half-staff until sunset to honor those who lost
their lives serving this nation at Pearl Harbor.

National Wreaths Across America Day, December 19, 2020, is a movement to cover all veterans’ grave markers with
a Christmas wreath. The observance is designated annually on a Saturday in December by Congress.

Remember. Honor. Teach. This is the mission of Wreaths Across America. By coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies
at Arlington National Cemetery and other veterans’ cemeteries around the country, Wreaths Across America strives
to remember our fallen heroes. The day honors those who serve. And it teaches our children about the sacrifices
made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms. You can volunteer or donate by visiting
www.wreathsacrossamerica.org. This is a great way for chapters to “get together” to honor and support our fallen
heroes.

Have a Safe Holiday Season, and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
