pencil shapes

TEACHER NOTES

TOPIC: vocabulary - shapes and colors; structure - "I have..."

GOALS: to identify shapes and colors and practice the structure "I have"
to combine colors in order to form a shape pattern

PROCEDURES:
make a copy of the cards to be used with the whole class;

put the cards in a bag or a box;

make sure all students have colored pencils (blue, red, yellow, green, pink, black,
purple, brown, orange, gray)

one student should be the "caller", it can be by choice or by chance;

the "caller" drags a card from the bag/box;

the "caller" should say "I have a (colors) (shape);


Eg. I have a blue, red and yellow triangle.

the other students must arrange their colored pencils to match the card in the
caller's hands;

once all students are done, the "caller" can show the card and name the
students who have matched the pattern;

repeat the procedures so all the students can be the "caller" at least once
(for larger classes the teacher may divide the students into groups, but
remember to print a set of cards for each group)
