cut-pile embroidery -  technique, short raffia strands are individually inserted with a
needle under one or more warps or wefts of a plain-woven raffia panel, then cut close
to the surface at each end to produce the raised "pile."

kachina - involves three basic concepts: first, a supernatural being; second, the masked
dancer (and the Zuni is a kachina when he wears the mask), and third the carved,

mana - is a form of a spiritual energy and also healing power which can exist in places,
objects and persons

terra cotta - unglazed, typically brownish-red earthenware, used chiefly as an

ornamental building material and in modeling.

totem - a natural object or animal that is believed by a particular society to have spiritual
significance and that is adopted by it as an emblem.
