In Malaysia, the form of changes and development in science education is mainly created on

National Education Policies and current trends in Science teaching. Science was trained as nature
study in primary school at the end of the 19 th century and until the middle of the 20 th
century. The Nature Study curriculum highlighted knowledge of facts and laws of nature
founded on the scientific investigation of the natural world. Pupils were inquired to learn
the facts and laws of nature by doing careful observation and classification of nature.
The instructing approach basically centred on the reading material and repetition learning.
There was a require instruct science that connected together thoughts from
all areas science and relate to students’ environment. The science curriculum was as it
were made formally dressed and official after 1956. The Nature Study was supplanted by
the Primary Science curriculum in 1965 which centred on mastery of scientific facts.
The others content of science curriculum development was Special Project. In 1968, the
Ministry of Education begun a project called Primary School Special. The key of this project
was to raise the teaching standard of science and mathematics in Malaysia. It was a notable
event as it was the first large-scale curriculum modues change attempted by the Ministry of
Education. The Primary School Special Project used new teaching approaches but the
content remained the similar. The focus was to support teachers increase more confidence
in utilizing the inquiry approach so as to be able to instil an attention and understanding in
pupils of the world around them. The Special Project was presented in schools for Standard
1 in 1970. Services and facilities were provided to the teachers as support. The examples of
the Services and facilities such as Sciences teaching guidebooks entitled Panduan Mengajar
Sains, a communication network, multimedia self-teaching modules and laboratory
apparatus.
Another, Man and the environment. The Cabinet Committee for Review of Implementation
of the Education Policy in 1979 suggested that the primary school curriculum be created
based on three areas specifically communication, man and his surroundings, and individual
self development. Man and His Environment (Alam dan Manusia) was one of the subjects in
the area of Man and his Surroundings. Man and the environment help students to gain
knowledge and understanding of man and his environment. Alam dan Manusia was a
humanistic curriculum that stressed on integration of disciplines, enhancement of thinking
skills, inquiry and problem-solving skills and instilling of moral values. Its cohesive elements
that were previously taught separately in subjects such as Geography, History and Science.
This integration aimed to ensure that students could understand certain topics better and as
a whole.
Another, Man and the environment. The Cabinet Committee for Survey of Execution of
the Instruction Approach in 1979 suggested that the essential school educational
programs be created based on three ranges specifically communication, man and
his environment, and person self improvement. Man and His Environment (Alam dan
Manusia) was one of the subjects within the range of Man and his Environment. Man and

man and his environment. Alam dan Manusia was a humanistic educational
