WHAT IS
CALFRESH?
CalFresh is also known as SNAP
(supplemental nutrition assistance
program). It provides monthly food
benefits to low-income individuals
and households.

AM I ELIGIBLE
FOR CALFRESH?
There are certain income
requirements, dependent on the
size of your family. More

HOW DO I GET
CALFRESH?
1. Submit application
2. Submit proof of situation with
documents i.e. ID, paystub, rent
receipt, etc
3. Do a 30-60 minute interview with a
county worker over the phone
4. If approved, receive EBT card with
money for groceries within 30 days

Currently available in English and
Spanish
2. Call CalFresh Info Line 1-877-847-3663.

WHAT IS WIC?
WIC stands for the Special Supplemental
Nutrition Program for Women Infants
Children. It provides supplemental foods,
health care referrals, and nutrition
education for low income, pregnant,
breastfeeding, or women who have just
given birth, and children up to five years
old who are at nutritional risk.

AM I ELIGIBLE FOR
WIC?
WIC services are for women who have
just given birth, who are breastfeeding,
or those who are pregnant. WIC is also
for children under five years old. WIC
applicants must live in the state they
apply for benefits, and be at nutritional
risk. More information about eligibility

EBT stands for electronic benefits
transfer. EBT allows recipients to
use a debit-style card to access
food and cash benefits from the
government.

WHAT IS A FOOD
BANK/PANTRY?
A food bank or pantry is a non-
profit organization that distributes
food, perishable and non-
perishable, to those in need.

WHAT IS 211?
211 is a special telephone number in Canada
and the United States, designed to provide
information and referrals to health, human,
and social assistance services. Los Angeles
has a 211 website specifically for the city,
which also includes a food finder map, a tool
to help families find food resources nearby.
