One Word Graffiti Art!

For this project, you will end up choosing one word to design as a graffiti artwork. Remember, we take our projects in
steps through the artistic process!

Learning Goal:

You will plan and create a two-dimensional graffiti inspired word art. The chosen word should be a visual representation
of your personal interests or a message you want to share with the public. You will experiment with numerous fonts and
a variety of ways to express words and emotions.

Requirements for Art I:

- Brainstorm List: create a list of 20 possible words on a piece of note paper to include on your design (you do not
have to use these ideas)
o You narrow that list down with your top 5 by putting a star next to them
- Your name is included
- Sketches: You experimented with different fonts and color schemes in 2 different completed sketches to
proceed to your final
- Nothing is inappropriate
- Include color schemes
- Final Project: is completed with clean craftsmanship and documentation
- You can explain the significance of your chosen word
- All mark making is meaningful and purposeful

Acceptable materials:

- Crayons, colored pencils, markers, pens, paint

o I suggest using sharpies or permanent markers for emphasis and outlining!
 Consider colored markers and colored pencils for unity too!
- Use what materials you have available (just don’t go painting graffiti on the walls of your home or public spaces!
Keep the project on your papers, please)

Grading:

All assignments are out of 100 points. Craftsmanship is critical for grading – Ensure you are taking your time and are
purposeful with the execution of your project. Ensure you photograph your Graffiti Word clearly and entirely for proper
grading. Brainstorm list is due 9/13/20, the Two Completed Sketches are due 9/18/20, and the final Graffiti Word
Project is due 9/27/20
