PROJECT TITLE: ROWING SPORT

 DCS – FYP 2018

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Lack of physical sports may lead to an unhealthy mind and body. In order to prevent this
from occurring, knowledge on physical sports needs to be widespread. Furthermore, there
are many types of physical sport that are not being promoted aggressively throughout
other parts of the world. Emergence of e-sports are drastically influencing our younger
generation which may lead to detrimental health conditions in the near or distant future.

In light of the above idea, rowing sport courseware will be developed with an aim to
provide information about rowing.The contents of the courseware are history,basic steps
and equipment pertaining to rowing sport.The idea is to ensure users understand the
significance of rowing sports.Futhermore, picking up rowing sport will be an effective
way to boost overall health physiologically and psychologically.

2.0 PROBLEM STATEMENT

Most university students in Malaysia are not aware of a sport called rowing. The younger
generation needs to be introduced to such a sport so as improve their general wellbeing
and being connected to nature in order to value environmental preservation.Up to date,
not many sites provide students with such adequate information on both of this particular
sport.Moreover, by developing such a courseware students will be able to obtain
information on rowing and shall utilize it according to their preference.

3.0 OBJECTIVE

 To develop a courseware that illustrates about rowing sport.

 To introduce the equipments involved in rowing sport.

4.0 Scope

This courseware will show about the details of rowing sport,equipments that are being
used and history.It will also contain some video clips about rowing as there will be
several questions for the user to answer.

5.0 Methodology

Project Development Methodology : Prototype

Prototype is a working model of software with some limited functionality. The prototype does not
always hold the exact logic used in the actual software application and is an extra effort to be
considered under effort estimation.

Prototyping is used to allow the users evaluate developer proposals and try them out before
implementation. It also helps understand the requirements which are user specific and may not have
been considered by the developer during product design.

Advantages of Prototype model:

 Users are actively involved in the development

 The users get a better understanding of the system being developed.
 Errors can be detected much earlier.
 Quicker user feedback is available leading to better solutions.
 Missing functionality can be identified easily

Requirement gathering techniques

Gathering techniques that will be applied for this project is survey. One short survey will be
conducted with 10 university students to answer the survey and the results of it will be used
as ideas to develop the courseware.

Tools and technology

 Adobe Director 12

Adobe Director is a multimedia authoring platform. This software is used for the

project to build the software using multimedia and Lingo programming language.

 Adobe Photoshop CS6

Adobe Photoshop is the predominant photo manipulation and editing and to creating

intricate digital paintings and drawings.

 Lingo Programming Language

Lingo is embedded into Adobe Director and can be added as scripts on objects or on

the timeline.

When Lingo was created, a verbose syntax was designed to mimic spoken language,

so

it will be easy for new users.
