1. INSTRUCTION
The KP308V1.0.1 controller features manual/remote generator start and stop, data measurement,
alarm and protection. The KP308V1.0.1 can display detailed genset running and alarm data
through an LED display in five digits. An RS232 interface with the host computer can start and stop
the generator and display real time run data through the host computer. The host computer
software has a Chinese and English interface. An S485 interface is also available for remote
monitoring and control.

When the controller is working, it is initialized to “Manual” Mode, with illuminated. Press
or turn the ignition lock to start the genset.
Start steps:
Fuel relay output.starting relay output. Maximum starting time (configurable parameter) starts
counting down.If the genset can start successfully during the countdown, the starting relay is
de-energized. If starting fails, the fuel relay and starting relay are powered off and the starting
operation is aborted. The LED start failure indicator ( ) flashes.
After the genset has started, the security delay (configurable parameter)countdown timer
starts.During the security delay range, low oil voltage, high temperature, under speed, under
voltage, under frequency and a battery charging fault are ignored. The genset is in specified
running status.

6. PROTECTION
The controller has several built-in protection functions. When the genset has a particular
problem, the relevant fault LED alarm is actuated. The fault alarm can be one of three types:
warning, delay shutdown, immediate shutdown.
6.1 ALARM
With the following alarms, the relevant LED flashes but the genset keeps running.。
Controller alarming items are as follows:
No. Type Description
When the oil filter is past its change setting, there will be
1 Oil filter change overdue an oil filter overtime alarm and the maintenance LED
flashes.
When the fuel filter is past its change setting, there will be
2 Fuel filter change overdue a fuel filter overtime alarm and the maintenance LED
flashes.
When the air filter is past its change setting, there will be
3 Air filter change overdue an air filter overtime alarm and the maintenance LED
flashes
When the battery voltage is higher than the set value, the
4 Battery over voltage
battery LED flashes.。
When the battery voltage is lower than the set value, the
5 Battery under voltage
battery LED flashes.
When the charging voltage is lower than the set value,
6 Charging fault
the battery LED flashes.

will be displayed on the controller.
Press to return to “System Operation” menu
When genset is stopped, and is in “Manual” Mode, press and at the same time for 5
seconds and the password test mode is displayed
After inputting the right password, press to enter the “Parameters Set” menu. Take the
settings of flywheel teeth for example. After entering the flywheel tooth menu, press to set the
number; the default value is 100. While the value is flashing, press or to increase or

decrease the value. After inputting the value, press to confirm and save the value. Press the
key to return to the “Parameters Set” menu.
There are two configurable authorities for the controller: Operator and engineer.
After entering the password setting menu, input correct password and log in parameter setting
menu.
Module initial password:
Operator password:0001
Note: Engineer authority is for the manufacturer to set the parameter before
delivery. Manufacturer can configure the system parameters according to
engine performance, module properties and user's requirements. All the
parameters should be configured properly or the genset will be seriously
damaged and unpredictable accidents will be caused.

9. INITIAL START
Before the initial start of the controller, please check the following:
1. All connections and wires;
2. The DC working power of the controller is equipped with a fuse and the batteries for proper
connection and polarity;
3. The Emergency Stop button is connected with the battery positive terminal through the
normally closed emergency stop button and fuse;
4. Take proper measures to prevent the engine from starting such as disabling the fuel valve
connections then connect the battery and select manual mode.
5. Set the controller to "Manual" mode, press (start) to start the generator. Genset won’t
start. If start failure alarms activate, press (stop) to recover the controller.
6. Restore the engine to the proper starting condition and press (start). The genset should
start and if everything is normal, the genset will be in idle status (if idle running is available) then the
genset should run normally. At this time, check all parameters such as voltage, current, and
frequency. If there are any abnormalities, stop the genset and refer to the operation manual.
7. Please check with your seller or the factory if you need additional help.
