1. INSTRUCTION
The KP308V1.0.1 controller features manual/remote generator start and stop, data measurement,
alarm and protection. The KP308V1.0.1 can display detailed genset running and alarm data
through an LED display in five digits. An RS232 interface with the host computer can start and stop
the generator and display real time run data through the host computer. The host computer
software has a Chinese and English interface. An S485 interface is also available for remote
monitoring and control.

off. All the parameters can be adjusted from the front panel or adjusted through the RS232
interface by PC.
l Multiple successful starting conditions to select.(AC output frequency more than the tripping
frequency, engine speed more than the tripping speed, charing motor voltage more than
tripping charging voltage; low oil pressure switch signal ineffective (disconnect) ).
l Working voltage: 8-35 VDC, adaptable to different batteries
l RS232/RS485 communication interface, PC operation and monitoring can be realized through
MODBUS communication protocol.
l All the parameters use digital adjustment instead of the normal analog adjustment of
potentiometer so that the stability and reliability can be increased.
l Fault alarms are recorded until manually deleted
l Copy system configuration and restore system configuration assures the system can be
restored if inadvertently changed or lost
l Maintenance reminder function (fuel filter, air filter, oil filter)

5.3 MANUAL OPERATION

When the controller is working, it is initialized to “Manual” Mode, with illuminated. Press
or turn the ignition lock to start the genset.
Start steps:
Fuel relay output.starting relay output. Maximum starting time (configurable parameter) starts
counting down.If the genset can start successfully during the countdown, the starting relay is
de-energized. If starting fails, the fuel relay and starting relay are powered off and the starting
operation is aborted. The LED start failure indicator ( ) flashes.
After the genset has started, the security delay (configurable parameter)countdown timer
starts.During the security delay range, low oil voltage, high temperature, under speed, under
voltage, under frequency and a battery charging fault are ignored. The genset is in specified
running status.

Press key to stop the genset.

5.4 REMOTE OPERATION

When the controller is working, it is initialized to the “Manual” Mode. Press to login into
the remote mode.
When the system is in remote mode, genset is in standby mode and has no shut-down failure,
genset will be started when remote starting function is available.
Start steps are as follows when remote start signal is valid:
Fuel relay output.starting relay output. Maximum starting time (configurable parameter) starts
counting down.If the genset can start successfully during the countdown, the starting relay is
de-energized. If starting fails, the fuel relay and starting relay are powered off and the starting
operation is aborted. Genset will be reset after shut-down delay(configurable parameters). If
starting number is more than the "Remote starting numbers"(configurable parameters), the start
operation is failed.
Genset will be shut down when the remote shut-down signal is valid.

REMOTE START NORMALLY OPEN

In the “Remote mode”, after Terminal “8” is closed (low potential), genset starts after Remote
start delay (parameters can be set). If terminal “8” is open (high potential), genset won’t stop.

REMOTE START NORMALLY CLOSED

In the “Remote mode”, after terminal “8” is open (high potential), the genset starts after remote
start delay (parameters can be set). If terminal “8” is closed (low potential) the genset won’t stop.

REMOTE SHUTDOWN NORMALLY OPEN

In the “Remote Mode” after terminal “8” is closed (low potential), the genset won’t start. With
terminal “8” open (high potential), the genset stops after Remote Stop Delay(parameters can be
set).

REMOTE SHUTDOWN NORMALLY CLOSED

In the “Remote mode” after terminal “8” is open (high potential), the genset won’t start.
Terminal “8” closed (low potential), the genset stops after Remote Stop Delay (parameters can be
set).

REMOTE START & STOP NORMALLY OPEN

In the “Remote mode” after Terminal “8” is closed (low potential), the genset starts after remote
start delay (parameters can be set). With terminal “8” open (high potential), the genset stops after
Remote Stop Delay (parameters can be set).

REMOTE START & STOP NORMALLY CLOSED

In the “Remote mode", after terminal “8” is open (high potential), the genset starts after remote
start delay (parameters can be set). Terminal “8” closed (low potential), the genset stops after
Remote Stop Delay (parameters can be set).

9. INITIAL START
Before the initial start of the controller, please check the following:
1. All connections and wires;
2. The DC working power of the controller is equipped with a fuse and the batteries for proper
connection and polarity;
3. The Emergency Stop button is connected with the battery positive terminal through the
normally closed emergency stop button and fuse;
4. Take proper measures to prevent the engine from starting such as disabling the fuel valve
connections then connect the battery and select manual mode.

5. Set the controller to "Manual" mode, press (start) to start the generator. Genset won’t

start. If start failure alarms activate, press (stop) to recover the controller.

6. Restore the engine to the proper starting condition and press (start). The genset should
start and if everything is normal, the genset will be in idle status (if idle running is available) then the
genset should run normally. At this time, check all parameters such as voltage, current, and
frequency. If there are any abnormalities, stop the genset and refer to the operation manual.

7. Please check with your seller or the factory if you need additional help.
