Leader: Let the nations be glad and sing for joy!
For you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon the earth.
People: Let all the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you.
Leader: The earth has brought forth its increase;
God, our God, has blessed us.
People: Let all the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you.

* OPENING HYMN 92 For the Beauty of the Earth DIX

1. For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth over and around us lies;
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.
2. For the beauty of each hour of the day and of the night,
hill and vale, and tree and flower, sun and moon, and stars of light;
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.
3. For the joy of ear and eye, for the heart and mind's delight,
for the mystic harmony linking sense to sound and sight;
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.
4. For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child,
friends on earth and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild;
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.
5. For thy church, that evermore lifteth holy hands above,
offering up on every shore her pure sacrifice of love;
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.
6. For thyself, best Gift Divine, to the world so freely given,
for that great, great love of thine, peace on earth, and joy in heaven;
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.

* SCRIPTURE LESSON Psalm 50:1-6

SERMON God Calling: Dr. Jan Davis

ACCOUNTABILITY
INVITATION TO REPENTANCE Dr. Steve Pulliam
Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him,
who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another.
Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND PARDON

Gracious God,
you have given us the law of Moses and the teachings of Jesus
to direct us in the way of life. You offer us your Holy Spirit so that
we can be born to new life as your children. Yet, O God, we confess
that the ways of death have a strong attraction, and that we often
succumb to their lure. Give us a vision and courage to choose you, our ultimate
prize, so that we may be worthy recepients of your blessings and grace. Amen.

* GREAT THANKSGIVING
The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
The pastor gives thanks, remembering God’s acts of salvation, and concludes:
And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven,
We praise your name and join their unending hymn:

The pastor continues the thanksgiving and concludes:

And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,
we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice,
in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith:

The pastor invokes the present work of the Holy Spirit and then praises the Trinity, concluding:
All honor is yours, Almighty Father, now and forever:
