Tuition fees 2019-2020
The tuition fee you pay depends on factors such as your nationality, whether or not you already have a higher education
degree in the Netherlands and the type of enrolment and the year in which your studies commence.

Statutory (legally set) tuition fee

The Ministry of Education has set the statutory tuition fee for full-time courses at € 2,083. As of 2019-2020, the
statutory fee for first-year Bachelor’s students enrolling for the first time in higher education in the Netherlands will be
halved to € 1,041 for a period of one year.

The statutory tuition fee only applies for students who have not previously obtained
a Dutch Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and are nationals of an EEA country (including the Netherlands),
Switzerland or Surinam and for non-EEA students with a registered legal partnership in an EEA country or with
asylum-seeker status.

Institutional tuition fee

Students from outside the EEA and students who have already obtained a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the
Netherlands pay the institutional tuition fee, which is set by the university’s Executive Board.

Excellence Scholarships
The Royal Conservatoire awards Excellence Scholarships worth € 5,000 to Master’s candidates who perform best in
the entrance exams (both EEA and non-EEA students are eligible for a scholarship). Click here for more information.

For Dutch and other EEA students who are enrolling in a Bachelor’s programme in the Netherlands for the
€1.041
first time, the statutory tuition fee for the first year will be halved

Dutch and other EEA students who have already obtained a Dutch Bachelor’s degree and wish to follow a
€7.500*
second Bachelor’s programme at the Royal Conservatoire will pay the institutional tuition fee

For Dutch and other EEA students who are enrolling in Dutch higher education for the first time in 2019-
2020 and are starting the Bachelor of Music Teaching programme, the statutory tuition fee for the first €1.041
and second year will be halved

For Dutch and other EEA students who have already obtained a Dutch Bachelor’s degree and wish to
start the Bachelor of Music Teaching programme, the statutory tuition fee will apply provided the €2.083

completed Bachelor’s programme was not in education or health care

Master’s degree programmes

Dutch and other EEA students who have not already obtained a Dutch Master’s degree and wish to follow
€2.083
a Master’s degree programme at the Royal Conservatoire

Dutch and other EEA students who have already obtained a Dutch Master’s degree and wish to follow a
second Master’s degree programme at the Royal Conservatoire pay the institutional tuition fee €7.500
(with exception of the programmes DNOA en NMO, for which the tuition has been set at € 5000)
