WORDS OF WELCOME & OPPORTUNITIES FOR

*CALL TO WORSHIP
L: "Hear what the Lord says: 'Rise, plead your case before the
mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.'" (Micah 6:1)
P: Mountains and hills are God's witnesses.
L: Isaiah prophesied, "the mountains and the hills before you
shall burst into song, and all the trees of the field shall clap
their hands." (Isaiah 55:12b)
P: Hills rejoice and trees applaud our God.
L: Jesus said, "I tell you, if these (disciples) were silent, the
stones would shout out." (Luke 19:40)
P: Even stones trumpet God's praise.
L: And what about us?
P: And what about us?
L: What will we do?
P: What will we do?
L: What will we do for the God who breathed life into Adam,
life into dry bones, and life into our congregation?
P: We will be God's witnesses.
L: Jesus said, "Love your enemies and pray for those who
persecute you." (Matthew 5:44)
P: We will pray.
L: The Apostle Paul said, "I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is
the power of God for salvation to everyone who has
 faith." (Romans 1:16)
P: We are not ashamed of the gospel. We are not ashamed
of our faith.
L: Who will be a witness for our God?
P: We will!
L: Who will tell the nations of God's goodness?
P: We will!
A: We declare before all creation, we will be God's
witnesses! May we be witnesses, to the love God has
poured into us. Witnesses of God’s love, sharing it with
each person we meet. Witnesses to everyone we
encounter, little children like us, sisters and brothers in

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker
of Heaven and Earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of
God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God,
Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not
made, of one Being with the Father; through Him all
things were made.
For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and of the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He
suffered death and was buried.
On the third day He rose again in accordance to the
Scriptures; He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the
right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to
judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have
no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the
Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has
spoken through the prophets.
We believe in the one holy Catholic (universal) and
apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the
forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the
dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

LOOKING AHEAD:
The beginning of Lent is just around the corner. The Caring
Cooperative Parish ministerial team has decided that all
three of the rotational Lenten services for this year will be
held at the Newark Valley 1st UMC because this church has
the best set up for both in person and live-streaming.
Because of Covid protocols and space issues we need to
require reservations for each service to make sure we don't
go over the limits. We need names (of each person
attending) with address and phone number (this gives us
contact tracing info in case it is needed). We will want this
info by the afternoon of service.
As Ash Wednesday approaches bringing a time of
reflection on the sacrifice of our Lord in this unusual time of
Covid we seek to honor tradition, prepare our hearts for
Lent and remain faithful to our God yet do so in a safe,
healthy, contactless manner. In order to make this possible
we are providing temporary tattoos that can be applied at
the appropriate "Imposition of Ashes" time.
If you wish to participate in person please call the
church office at 607-642-8811 and leave: the name of each
person attending, address and phone number so we can
call and confirm the reservation. We are limited to 50 so it
will be first come first served.
