To assemble the RB-MOUNT to a Bantam Plus first release the retaining nuts securing the
Tee Bar on the RB-MOUNT.
a) Fully extend the Tee Bar and mount the assembly as shown in the following
image.
b) The Tee Bar should fit snuggly into the recess above the front fan filter and the
rear of the mount should fit over the rear lip below the fan exhaust.
c) Next loosen the two screws found at the rear of the Bantam Plus meter socket.
Securely assemble the Wire form Meter retainer clip and retighten screws.
d) The retainer clip is required to prevent some large electro mechanical meters from
falling out of the Bantam Plus meter socket while in the vertical position.
e) Finally, there are two feet that can be adjusted to level the mechanical meter in a
vertical orientation for testing.

If you need to document any SCADA (Supervisory Control
NOTE and Data Acquisition) follow the steps below
If you need to document any SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)
readings, use the pause mode. This will pause the test after each test step. Voltage and
current will still be applied when paused. Then click the SCADA tab.
The instantaneous results continuously update every 0.5 seconds. These readings can be
compared to the SCADA readings and documented. If a value is entered into the SCADA
readings area, it will be saved when Start is clicked, and the test moves on to the next step. These
values are optional, and you do not have to enter a value into this field. If no value is entered,
nothing will be saved in the SCADA fields for that test step.
Another use for the SCADA tab can be to adjust your transducer. You can select a test step, click
Adjust Optics, and then go to the SCADA tab to see the instantaneous input and output values.
Then the transducer can be adjusted (with a trim pot) to desired values. You can also return to
the Testing tab, select another step, and click Adjust Optics again, and it will automatically
adjust the values for that row. You do not need to cancel the test each time you want to update
the values.

8.3 Service
8.3.1 Service
The Bantam Plus equipment is designed for testing meters and used as part of your
organization's quality control system. The procedure below outlines the limited parts
that are customer replaceable.
Over extended use, the current carrying socket jaws may foul with contaminates
such as oil or grease and no longer produce the contact necessary to operate to
specification. The following procedure describes how to periodically clean or
replace these jaws.
Step 1. Ensure the Bantam Plus is switched off and isolated from line voltage.
Step 2. Remove the five Torx drive screws from the socket cover.
Step 3. Remove the socket cover to expose the socket assembly.
Step 4. Note that each current conductor has a replaceable liner. Clean each liner
using compressed air being careful that all loose debris is removed. Should oil or
grease be present, remove the liner from the Bantam Plus before using oil based
solvent for cleaning.

Step 5. If necessary liners can be replaced using of RB-SMK Socket Maintenance
Kit available from Radian Research.
Step 6. Before replacing the socket assembly cover, ensure that the socket assembly
dividers found on the base of the socket assembly cover sit either side the voltage
conductors. Failure to do so could result in bending the voltage conductors
preventing a meter insertion. Replace the socket assembly cover and retighten the
five Torx screws.
Step 7. Perform a Standards Compare to validate the performance using Standards
Compare information found in section 6.1 and 8.3.4.

Each current cable is color coded in pairs and terminated with a Red or Black 6mm
locking banana plug. Connect each pair to the external Reference standard paying
attention to the phase orientation. Connect the current cables marked with the Red
band to the RD Phase A Input, connect the Yellow band cables to the B phase and
the Blue band cables to the C phase inputs on the RD. The red and black 4mm
banana plugs to the RD-2X Potential inputs. Connect a BNC cable between the
Bantam Plus Optics Port 3 and the RD-2X Port 2. Finally connect Line Voltage to
the RD-2X AUX Input to power the RD standard.

8.4 Troubleshooting
Question: I’m trying to measure a GE KV2c meter accuracy using the Bantam Plus integrated
pulse sensor. The first result is inaccurate, yet I know my meter reads correctly when using other
test methods.
Solution: It sounds like the meter might be pulsing before or during the first test. This may be
due to fact that the meter is delivering communication data to the adjacent optical output port
after being powered on. A solution, is to add an ‘Optics Adjust’ or ‘Creep Test’ as the first
sequence test point. This will cause the meter to complete its power-up cycle and cease
communication prior to beginning a meter accuracy test.
