Good morning miss my name is Dana jaffar and My English school

based assessment focuses on the topic “social life”. My narrowed down

topic is “To what extent is cyberbullying affecting young people today”.
I choose this topic because my sister was a victim of cyberbullying and I
wanted to find out more about cyberbullying and how dangerous it can
be to young people. From all my research I was able to gather some
important and new insights on cyberbullying and how it can affect a
person’s self-esteem. I choose to write a speech to fully express my
emotions I think this is the most efficient and effective way to present a
summarize version to the information I’ve gathered.

Cyberbullying
Are you aware that 75% of teen have been victims of cyberbully and that
only 1 in 10 teens tell and adult when they’ve been cyberbullied.
Cyberbullying is something that could be very damaging and hurtful to
teens it can lead to depression, anxiety and even in some cases it can
lead to suicide. Cyberbullying might seems like it’s not a big deal
because it doesn’t involve any physical contact but in reality words can
be 10 times as harmful as being beaten up at school.

Key ways cyberbullies target they victims

Cyberbullies target their victims through social media or online
interactions …
Here are some key ways that was collected in artefact 1:
Harassment which includes repeatedly sending rude or offensive
messages to someone.
Denied raisin which includes posting things about someone that are
hurtful and untrue.
Flaming which includes using very hurtful language over the internet
like cursing when talking to someone
There’s also
Cyber stalking which include mean visiting somebodies social media
profile multiple times a day or making them feel very afraid for their
safety.
Impersonation is also a main one, which means going on the internet and
either hacking or breaking into a person social media account and using
it to hurt someone.

Places cyberbullying occurs

Some of the places that cyberbullying occurs are the most widely used
form of social media such as:
Facebook, Instagram, twitter, snapchat and some of the other social
media apps.
Teen who are cyberbullied have a greater risk of depression and anxiety
sometimes they include increased feeling of sadness patterns, loss of
interest in hanging out with friends and even health problems.
Teens who are cyberbullied are likely to struggle more at school, you
might find them skipping their classes or not attending school, a lot of
they grades could drop and they might even turn to alcohol and drugs
and a study was actually done on cyberbullying that showed adults who
had been cyberbullied in their teenage years actually carried suicidal
thoughts with them into adulthood so it is shown to know that the effects
are very lasting and can harm somebody for a very long time.

How to prevent cyberbullying from happening

Cyberbullying could be prevented by making sure all schools has an
educational safety plan in place in terms of social media not only
including what to do in case of sexual harassment but the wise way of
how to interact with your peers through these sites, making sure to
maintain an open line of communication it’s really important to be open
and to be there for the victim so that they know they can come to you
with any problems that they’re having and the difference that you’re not
going to judge them and they don’t have to feel embarrassed it came talk
to you about what’s going on at school or on the internet. You can also
create and enforce internet and cell phone contracts with your kids
telling them what you think is okay for them to do on social media and
what’s not and make sure to also really model the usage so only do
things on social media that you would allow your kids to do or post

Monitor teen’s usage on social media if you really see them starting to
pull away from the internet or becoming obsessive with the internet they
might either be a victim of cyberbullying or a proprietor of it.

Cyberbullying can happen to anyone, so it’s really important to be

prepared and know how to be there for the victim … being there for the
victim could even mean the difference between life and death
