Rotating Unbalance
Introduction:

A machine which has rotating parts as its working parts

is known as rotating machines

Examples:
• Turbines
• Generators
• Heavy electrical motors etc.,

Rotating Unbalance
Introduction:
Unbalance in rotating machinery part
(m) is one of the main causes of
vibration in the entire system
The problem of unbalance comes when
in a rotating machine the centre of
gravity of the rotor does not coincide
with the axis of the rotation

The Equivalent Enbalance eccentric

mass ‘m’ with eccentricity ‘e’ is the
measure of the unbalance

Rotating Unbalance
Introduction:
A simplified model of such a
machine is shown in Figure. The
total mass of the machine is M
(including m), and

An eccentric masses m rotating with

a Constant Angular Velocity ()

The centrifugal force due to

unbalance mass will cause
excitation of the mass M
