Introduction
Adama rebranded its corporate identity in order to unify its product
offerings with a global label design system. The updated toolkit is a
result of company and consumer feedback.
Inspired by patterns of growth found in nature, the brand identity
and design system illustrate connection and enforce a core idea:
Simply. Grow. Together.
The label design accounts for different levels of regulation across the
globe, and is scalable across different packaging formats and sizes.
Adama has a flexible, global label design system for its entire
product line-up that brings the promise, identity and architecture of
the new brand to life.
Anything that is not covered within these guidelines must be
approved by your regional contact.

Adama products fall into four categories (or product sectors): “Disease Control,” “Weed Control,” “Pest Control,” and “Crop Enhancement.”

Guidance for label creation

This section contains tips for writing text, additional information on
utilizing photography and sub-brand logos, and things to avoid when
creating new labels.
An asset kit containing label templates, along with all the logo variations
you will need will be supplied along with this document.
Do not attempt to create new labels without an asset kit.
If you do not have access to the asset kit, please refer to your regional
contact listed on page 80.

7.2 Writing guidelines 68
General writing guidelines

The language on the front of the label should explain the most relevant
information for a farmer. All other regulatory information is included in other
portions of the label, or the booklet. Keep the following guidelines in mind when
producing text for the front of the label.
Use everyday language
Language on the label should be written to account for people with limited or no
scientific knowledge, therefore scientific language should be avoided whenever
possible (e.g., “active ingredients”).
Be specific
Avoid over-generalization, and be specific. For example, rather than stating

that a product targets a broad range of weeds, list the specific crops targeted
on the label.
Be concise
Don’t include every single detail of the product. Focus on its most relevant
functionality and benefits.
Be honest
Any claims about the product must be substantiated. Only include what it
actually delivers, and avoid making claims such as “the world’s best herbicide.”
Sector descriptors
The sector descriptor is a functional, science-based term describing what the
product is and what it does. Sector descriptors are concise terms that are only
applicable for the Advanced range of products.

Product benefits
The product benefit is a short description that is only used on the labels for the
Advanced range of products. It communicates the differentiating benefit that
the product delivers in addition to its standard benefit.
The differentiating benefit must address one of the following challenges:
efficacy, unskilled and costly labor, or unbiased advice from sales representatives.
The product benefit consists of the following components:
1. A comparative word to communicate how the product performs better than
the standard solution (e.g., “faster,” “safer,” etc.).
2. A specific description of what the product does better (e.g., “delivers broad
range efficacy”).
3. When possible, name the product that it is superior to.
The product benefit should appear on the label as no more than
three lines of text, maximum.
Examples:
• Simplified resistance management in novaluron based products
• Already fulfills EU CAP requirements for 2018
• 50% less applications compared to Glyphosate

Product descriptors
The product descriptor succinctly communicates the basic functionality of the
products within the Essentials range. The language around what the product is,
and what it does should be easy to understand from a farmer’s perspective.
The product descriptor should include a functional, science-based term
describing what the product is and what it does.
The product descriptor appears beneath the active ingredients on the label,
and should be no more than two lines of text, maximum.
