 Addressing disciplinary referrals for students in grades 9-12, whose last names begin with the letters L-Z

o Mental Health & Wellness Taskforce
 Collaboration with district wide stakeholders, teachers, and students to address the needs of our school to
promote mental health awareness and overall wellness. Our initiatives included: floor to ceiling posters
located in hallways & cafeteria, taking students to Albany for the MHANYS annual legislative day,
designing a Mental Health & Wellness Center through grant funding, and coordinating a Mental Health
Awareness Day in May.
 Created a Virtual Wellness Center & our virtual OHS “Anchor Down Room” to promote healthy lifestyle
habits and self-care.
 Implemented morning music in the hallway to brighten our school environment during this school year. A
Google form was created to take requests from all students & staff and a school-wide playlist was created
by cohort to accommodate our hybrid model.
 Attended the virtual ASCD Leadership Summit on Educator Mental Health & Wellness in January 2021
with a team of teachers, school counselors & social workers from the Mental Health & Wellness Task
Force.
 Developed a 2-day mental health awareness program for students that included the viewing of “Angst,” a
documentary that takes a first-hand look at mental health and adolescence with the main focus to bring
awareness to anxiety. Students were then asked to complete a survey and choose from a wide range of
activities presented to them in a Choice Board, such as Padlets, Flipgrids, journal entries, artistic creations,
group discussions and much more.
o Shared Decision-Making Committee
 Collaboration between school administration, faculty, students and parents to address issues which have
been identified by the team as areas to be addressed in order to improve the quality of education and school
environment for all students in the building.
o DASA Form Revision Committee
 Collaboration between select social workers, building administrators, and district administrators to work on
improving the reporting procedures and forms associated with the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA).
o District-Wide Safety Committee
 Collaboration with district-wide representatives as well as professionals from BOCES to assess the needs of
our district with regards to proper safety protocols, quality of safety drill performance, compliance with
state safety regulations and the use of a variety of safety technologies.
o AP Experience
 Collaboration with Advanced Placement teachers to create the first program of its kind at Oceanside High
School for students following the administration of their AP exams
 This program offers students the opportunity to focus on self-designed projects or internships as a way to
pursue interests aligned with potential career paths, services to the community, or other areas of interest
o AP Testing Coordinator
 Manage the ordering, receipt, distribution, pre-administration, administration, return of AP Exam materials
and data analysis of district exam results
o Annual Honor Night Coordinator
 Coordination of the awards assembly for our graduating seniors, where over 130 honors are awarded by
various community members and organizations
