Best things to do in Austin: Year-round Outdoor Avenue

What if there is a charming blend of eclectic culture to experience on one hand, and funky vibes to enjoy
on the other hand. Obviously, you would love to devote more time to such a place on very next weekend
or vacations. You may have rightly figured out, that is Austin, which offers plenty of things to do year-
round.

Whether you would like to get out into nature, want to be fascinated by the world-class museums, taste
delicious all seasoned food, or wishing for beautiful out-door spaces, all the options are on hand to choose
from in Austin. Although it’s the capital city of Texas, you would feel like roaming in a small town.

I decided to spend some of the summer days of 2019 exploring Austin, the capital city of Texas, which is
also known as the Live Musical Capital of the world. At the end of the journey to Austin luckily I got an
answer to the question I have been trying to answer for so long.

What things about Austin set it apart from the rest of the cities in the United States?

Keep reading with me so you would also find the correct answer to the particular question. I shall walk
you through the magnificent city of America, Austin for that matter, where you can do the best things.

Enjoy the Live Music and Entertaining Galleries

When it comes to music Austin stands out from the other cities. Whether you want to dance throughout
the night with a local DJ or match your movements with the speed and rhythm of a piece of music, Austin
makes sure of your preferences.

In 1991, legendary artists like Willie Nelson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Janis Joplin rocked the Austin
with most live performances than anywhere else in the nation wherein it rightfully earned the title Live
Musical Capital of the World.

When you would visit Austin for the sole purpose of rock ‘n roll then you must stopover at the
Continental Club, the granddaddy of music venues. You will get a chance to get into the typical styles of
dance from magnificent ballet to indie rock, and country jazz.

There is another place of great interest in Austin, especially when you would like to have all things
available to enjoy in one place. Sixth Street is the historic entertainment zone in Austin, located in the
urban region of, which is formally called, Pecan Street. East Sixth Street hosts a wide variety of events,
each year hundreds and thousands of people from every corner of America walk up the most famous
street in Austin. You are sure to get stuck in the stream of heavy traffic from Thursday to Sunday.
Because even more people than usual times from within the States head towards Austin’s sixth street to
immerse in the colorful array of bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues.

Art: Creative Spirit for Good Reason

Art is a part of Austin’s creative spirit for a good reason. It’s a city with scores of museums. When you
would visit places like the Museums of Weird and Bob Bullock, its history would begin to unfold
gradually and you will be astonished once you find freaks of nature there.
You may see creativity and artistry everywhere in Austin. The tallest building, the Jinga Tower, is the
perfect example of the dynamic expression of art. On your recreational sightseeing, you would witness
how perfectly artists have expressed every possible genre of art on the walls and sideways of Jinga
Tower. I was equally delighted to see views of artwork as others.

Year-round outdoor adventurous avenues

Austin is the best place to take pleasure in family sagas, swimming, and relaxing. I had been trying to
visit Austin for several years for the sole purpose of enjoying outdoor adventures, finally arrived with a
few friends in July 2019.

There are recreational outdoor swimming pools, rivers for kayaking, and more. People come here to take
great pleasure in swimming and other fun activities because the sunshine retains its bright reflection for
300 plus days here. The city owns 205 parks, 50 miles of biking and hiking track for those who love to
traverse a long arduous journey, and many entertainment spots.

There can be no possible excuse if Hamilton Pool Preserve would not mention in our discussion. It is a
natural pool surrounded by large stalactites, slabs of limestone, and home to moss. It has been turned into
a summer swimming spot in 1960, since then hundreds and thousands of visitors drive out there every
year. If you are not a resident of Austin then you will have to book a reservation to get access to Hamilton
Pool Preserve.

Another magnificent tourist spot is Lake Travis. In 1940, Lake Travis was dammed into a reservoir,
thereafter; it has been a popular spot for exhibiting outdoor recreational activities. Outdoor enthusiasts
can do fishing, scuba diving, and boating. They can even water ski and para-sail at Lake Travis’ year-
round outdoor adventurous avenue.

Drive out to experience diversity of Drink and Food

Just like live music, Austin’s diversity of cuisines is also exploding the attention of even the residents of
America. You will experience trending as well as traditional styles of culinary and cocktail scenes. Each
day, world-renowned chiefs carry out novel experiments to bring out new culinary innovations and
prepare good meals. And it is hard to believe that around 1000 mobile restaurants are navigating in the
city.

Although you will find whatever food you would like to have in Austin yet you may discover everyone
talking about Franklin Barbecue. It’s the legendary barbecue point in Austin that has a distinctive
reputation. You would see people assembling by eight in the morning, even though the restaurant starts its
service after 11 o’clock. Their barbecue is so delicious and popular in the city that people gladly stay in
an ordered line for more than three hours.

I usually drive through Texas for some reasons, but never have had Texas-styled beef at Franklin
Barbecue. I had to wait for three hours along with other friends staring at people who were having their
barbecue at their communal tables. People call Texas as a Barbecue Mecca. I also believed in the proverb
having eaten food at Franklin. Besides Franklin Barbecue, you will find other worthy barbecue joints in
Texas.

Watch a show on Austin’s Bat Bridge: Happening in an entirely different way

If you want to experience an extraordinary event that is happening in an entirely different way, then foray
down the streets of Austin to Bat Bridge. Hundreds and thousands of free-tailed bats emerge from the
underside of the bridge to start their night flight. According to locals, the swarm of these Mexican bats
can be best viewed in the evening. Initially, you would see a few bats trickling out from beneath the
bridge. As soon as the sun sets completely, all the bats begin hollowing out and cascade towards the East.

In order to attract the migration of Mexican free-tail bats, the government has transformed the bridge into
a tourist spot. It is now known as Congress Avenue Bridge. Since then, the number of bats has been
swelled and people have adopted them as their neighbors.
