To whom it may concern:

I am pleased to write this letter of reference for Fallyn Creighton.  In my role as Assistant Principal of FP Walshe School, I
had the privilege of evaluating Fallyn during her PS III placement at Walshe.

I was able to observe Fallyn formally in the classroom as well as meet with her informally to discuss her professional
portfolio, assessment procedures, and short and long range planning. I believe Fallyn to be an excellent young
teacher.

Her ability to create meaningful relationships, develop engaging, differentiated lessons and maintain a warm, safe,
caring and culturally sensitive environment in her classroom is commendable. She was reflective on her practice, very
receptive to feedback and implemented recommendations into her classroom lessons.

Fallyn's assignment was broad and challenging; teaching a variety of curricula (Math, Social and Language Arts
10/20-4) to students with a broad range of academic ability. She very quickly identified the entry points for her
individual students and catered her lessons and assessments to meet their needs. Her lessons were well-paced and
creative. She implemented many instructional techniques including direct instruction, small and large group work and
discussion. Her ability to leverage technology and encourage her students to take advantage of it as a tool to support
their learning was also impressive. Her assessment practices are solid; using rubrics, checklists and anecdotal
records to diagnose and report on student learning.

Fallyn's sharing of pride in her First Nations heritage, her immense talent as an artist and her broad interest  base
allowed her to connect with her students on a very personal level and help them see the relevance in  what they were
learning. Fallyn encouraged questions, challenged her students to dig deeper in their thinking resulting in rich
discussions. All the while, she maintained a high degree of accountability, mutual respect and cultural acceptance.

Fallyn's passion for learning and teaching is evident in all she does. She has been much loved by her students and
well respected by her colleagues. I know she will become a welcome member of any school community that is
lucky enough to have her.
