Asking for Help Answer Key

Sometimes when we are at school, home, or out in community we need help from
another person to show or teach us something we do not know. You should never be
embarrassed to ask for help. Everybody needs help some of the time! All the people in
the stories below need help. See if you can help them get the help that they need!

1. Selena’s in class when the teacher turns to face the whiteboard. Selena can’t
make out what the teacher is saying when she’s turned away.

2. Tyson is hanging out with some friends at lunch. The conversation is moving too

friends to slow down / asking friends to repeat themselves

3. Rachel notices that her hearing aid batteries are running low. She tries to change
the batteries herself, but is having a hard time.

b. How should Rachel ask for help? Go to whoever she’s most comfortable
talking to about the problem and ask for help

4. Leo is at a restaurant with his family. It’s a really nice restaurant but Leo is having
a hard time reading the cursive font on the menu.
a. Who can Leo ask for help? Parents/Grandparents/Siblings/Aunt/Uncle
b. How should Leo ask for help? Talk to whoever he’s most comfortable
talking to about the problem and ask for help
