TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

Major Components

1. Clutch - It is a device used to connect and disconnect the tractor engine from the power train
so that the gear can be shifted or the tractor can be stop without stopping the engine.

2. Gear Box (transmission) – it is a contained gear train, or a mechanical unit or component

consisting of a series of integrated gears within a housing

 Function: The function of any transmission is transferring engine power to the

driveshaft and rear wheels (or axle halfshafts and front wheels in a front-wheel-drive
vehicle). Gears inside the transmission change the vehicle's drive-wheel speed and
torque in relation to engine speed and torque. Specifically, it is

 Used to connect and disconnect the power transmitted by the engine to the rest
of the transmission
 Used to alter the speed
 Used to reverse the direction of motion of the vehicle
 Speed reduction
3. Differential - is a gear train with three shafts that has the property that the rotational speed of
one shaft is the average of the speeds of the others, or a fixed multiple of that average.

4. Final Drive (Spur Gear )- Is a gear reduction located in the power train between the differential
and the driving wheels used to transmit power of the engine at low speed and large torque to
the rear axle and wheels of the tractor.
